I did it! I connected to the remote mySQL server via Sequel Pro and to the local backup copy, then copied and pasted the field and it worked (while with phpmyadmin it did not).

I guess you should consider to write a tutorial about that.

Thank you.

I would suggest a database tool other than PHPMyAdmin that can export/import. I use a desktop application for interacting with the database. I just know PHPMyAdmin does not properly handle serialized arrays and can corrupt the data when you import/export a serialized array using it.

It would be possible to copy the form data from a backup, but you have to be very careful using PHPMyAdmin because it doesn't properly handle serialized array data... and can cause a similar issue with corrupting the data.

There is no cache with the Gravity Forms related data and your MySQL database or WordPress for that matter unless you have some sort of caching in place.

Another question: is there some sort of cache between wordpress and the mysql database, which could impeed me to see changes in real time?

I made some tries copying old database backup into the field display_meta of the table wp_rg_form_meta, but no joy.

But I am sure that the dump of the db from where I took the field's content were taken when the form was working, for I have a daily dump I keep into dropbox, I went back to 31 aug when I am sure the form was working, no joy though.

Did I make some mistake? Is it the right field? I used copy and past via phpmyadmin, could that be the bug? Is there any other way I can retrieve the field from a previous backup?

Thank you.

Your form meta data is corrupt. Something you added to the form in one of the fields, most likely HTML and/or scripting corrupted the form meta information that defines the fields on your form. I'm not sure what can easily be done to correct it.
