saturnus on "Review Website"

So I want to use gravity forms + custom post type to make an "Album Review" post. The input would be an image resized to medium aligned to the left, with 3 lines to the right of it (release date, genre, record label). Then the review below it.

Then the tracklisting, band links and buy the album below.

Example: http://www.thealtreview.net/2013/06/17/miles-kane-dont-forget-who-you-are/

So of course I want to be able to use image upload, text, text area, WSYWIG editor, numbered list, etc.

I have Contributors (so they would be the author of the post) submitting posts with Editors/Admins editing and publishing the post. Of course Contributors consistently mess up the formatting so I want this to stop happening and have every review post look exactly the same and I want to make posting reviews simple which is why I want an input form that will become a post (the review).

How would I go about acheiving this and is it possible? Obviously I want to be able to keep the way the album reviews look as they currently do.

Thank you.

I have searched for this but cannot locate an answer.
using: after_update_entry (or any other method) is there a way to either include in the notes or in a field the date an entry was modified on the admin side?

I am not looking to modify/change the date submitted, just to add a date/timestamp for when a user updates an existent entry.

I have been searching and experimenting and researching but am coming up short...

Hello,

I searched the forum, but could not specifically find an answer to this question. One link about "embedding a form" actually lead to a page with no content.

Can you explain how we would add a Gravity Form to a sidebar using the "Widget" area in Wordpress?

Of course we understand how to setup a form, but not quite clear how we can drop that into the sidebar via the widgets menu in Wordpress admin.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hello,

We are running Wordpress 3.5.1 with Gravity Forms 1.7.6 on IIS7. PHP error reporting is on but no major issues are being logged. For what it's worth we didn't notice the issue until migrating the environment into our production environment.

When trying to edit a few of the forms on the site the edit page never stops loading, and the options to edit/move/delete a field (or add another field) are totally unavailable. This happens rather arbitrarily, and we've been unable to consistently duplicate the issue, but it seems to only occur on longer forms (10+ fields) but not in all cases.

The issue originally popped up on a form with conditional fields, and fields dynamically populated. Thinking it may have something to do with conditional fields we rebuilt a form without, but the issue reappeared.

Disabling Javascript through Chrome or Firefox developer tools does not solve the issue. This signals the issue is not related to a Jquery conflict (nor does enabling or disabling "No Conflict" mode make a difference.)

We have increased PHP's memory limit to 256MB, and redefined Wordpress' memory limit in wp-config as so:
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');
define('WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

Incidentally, the only partial, but untenable, solution is to restart the web-server while the page is spinning. Once the server hiccups the page stops loading and the ability and interface to add/edit/move/delete is restored.

Here's a link to a demonstration of what we're talking about... https://www.dropbox.com/s/c2tduehasxxk6qg/gravity-forms-issue.mov -- notice the field-edit interface appears on the Reserve Now form (00:00:13), but does not on the Brochure Request form (00:00:25.)

Any help or direction very much appreciated!

A big UI improvement for me would be to fix the Standard / Advanced / Post / Pricing field panels to the right side of the screen so they're always visible/accessible when working on a long form. As-is, I do a lot of scrolling down then back up to add/edit fields; if those panels could be position: fixed instead of just at the top of whatever form I'm working on it would be a huge help.

This is a function I've added to my theme to make that happen, but it'd be great if it were an option or just the default for the plugin:

// THIS GIVES US SOME OPTIONS FOR STYLING THE ADMIN AREA
function gravity_panels() {
   echo '<style type="text/css">
           #add_fields {
   				position:fixed;
   				right:30px;
			}
         </style>';
}
if (isset($_GET['page']) && $_GET['page'] == 'gf_edit_forms') {
    // do all of your add_action() hooks here
    add_action('admin_head', 'gravity_panels');
}

I've read through all of the previous notification issues, and I think mine is unique.

I have a form that was sending notifications but quit, at least for the admin notification I set up. It is configured to send to my personal address and another email in the BCC. I have the person's name and email in the From fields to make it easy to add them (if necessary) to my address book. Nothing in the Reply To field.

This form was sending notifications through the old default Admin notification that was in place before the recent updates to GF, but I had replaced it with a new one. The new one worked for a bit but quit. The test notification I used was a Gmail address, so there cannot be an issue with the server seeing it as spam/phishing.

I installed the Configure SMTP plugin but I don't like that everything comes through on the Gmail address I configured it with instead of the email from the form. I really want to uninstall the SMTP plugin, and need GF to start working correctly.

Hi, apologies if this is a duplicate post, I had a decent look.

Love your product, use it all the time. Hate the intrusive plugin upgrade notification message right at the top of the admin screen.

Can you let me know how to disable the update message so that any changes don't get overridden when I actually do my regular plugin updates on my sites? Something I can drop into the functions.php on these sites? Thanks for any advice.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended behaviour but I found it confusing.

In Gravity Forms 1.7.2 when editing notification in the admin, if I then decide to switch to a different form it shows a blank notification form. I would expect it to default to showing the list of notifications for that form.

This behaviour can be achieved by ensuring when a Form is selected from the Switch Form menu, it removes the 'nid' parameter from the URL.

Hi,

We set up gravity forms for a lot of our clients, however our normal Wordpress install the client usually uses an editor-level account and we handle the admin account. This is to prevent our often very low-tech clients from doing things that will break their site.

The problem we're having is that although we do try to tell them not to, they're often leaving the From and To fields in their Notifications as {admin_email}. This is a problem because that email address is our email address, not theirs.

I've looked up the gform_notification hook, and got it working so that if the notification has the text {admin_email} it replaces it with the email address of their account.

The problem is that this doesn't seem to work on the From field. Is there a way in Gravity Forms to filter the From email address, so that I can replace it with theirs if they haven't manually changed it in the Form Settings?

I'll be using 1.7 only from now on, so 1.7 filters are fine.

My code so far (in a custom plugin for stuff like this):

function gform_notification_email( $notification, $email, $form) {
	$editor = get_userdata( 2 );
	$notification = str_replace( '{admin_email}', $editor->user_email, $notification);
	return $notification;
}

add_filter('gform_notification', 'gform_notification_email', 10, 3);

Cheers,

Jacob @ magicdust

Edit: Sorry, I should note, that simply doing this:

$notification['from'] = $editor->user_email;

Works just fine. However this will overwrite it even if the user changes it. I'd like to preserve whatever's in there, unless it's {admin_email}. Problem is it looks like that even though {admin_email} is what's in the notification settings, it's not actually included in the $notifications array.

Edit: Ok, It seems just checking if $notification['from] == '' is working. Is there anything wrong with this approach? Are there any other places the admin email address is used I should watch out for?

I know I've pretty much solved the problem... already, but I'm not super-confident in my solution. So if there's a better way, I'd love to hear it.

Cheers!
