I'm using Gravity Forms for user registration, but I'm a bit confused on how to add custom fields. On top of this I want to have an "update profile" form that will autofill with the current logged in user's information and allow updating of these fields.

By The Way, I am NOT using BuddyPress if this makes a difference.

I have just bought Gravity Forms and read all the forum posts about pre-populating but am either still stuck or am mis-understanding the abilities of Gravity Forms so I hope someone can help with this?

I have set up a test form at http://www.timesharestaff.com/test-form/
I want to be able to pull from Buddypress Profile Data for the logged in user to populate the fields such as Address, Country etc so that my users can have an auto-fill job application form based on the info they provided upon registration which mimics most of the test form I have provided.

Is this possible and can you please help - much appreciated.

I am trying to pre-populate a form with a few BuddyPress fields using the add_filter function.

http://pastebin.com/i0nUxaEg

I can return the value fine on a page, but can not have it populate the GravityForm. Allow field to be populated dynamically is checked and parameter is populate_hotel.

Am I missing something?

Hi there i need to create a form to let users input their data for a sort of web directory. Their data will be saved to a custom post type. I would like them to submit their form and create their wordpress/buddypress user at the same time. Is this possible?

Hello, I am currently using BP with x-profile fields and Membership plugin from WPMU Dev as well as BP Profile Search to search the members' profiles. It's ok, except the registration form is limited.

I need to create a more robust registration forms with the ability to:
1. Separate the registration process either into steps (multi-page) with a progress bar or at least into section of fields, such as Personal Details, Professional details, etc.
2. To be able to provide tool-tips for fields and/or descriptions for fields
3. To have State/ country fields (so we don't have to populate all)
4. Conditional fields option (ex: if "other" is selected show input field)
5. This is probably the most important. When Registration is submitted, it needs to follow the current setup where a person pays and redirected to a page set up by the Membership Plugin

Search Functionality
1. Can Gravity form be used to create a search form to replace BP Profile Search?
2. If not, the way BP Profile Search works is it lets you choose from all the profile fields created in order to search those fields. Will it still work with Gravity forms?

Lastly, To seamlessly integrate the submissions into the user profile, where they can edit the fields later on.

I know it's a lot of questions, but I need to know that this is going to work before I ask the client to invest into a developer license at this point in development.

Can custom Buddypress user fields be dynamically populated to a form? I'm trying to have certain users update their address information and want the form to show what they already have in their user profile so they only have to update what is missing. I tried {user:street_address} as the default value in a single line text field but nothing populated.

Hello all :) The more I use Gravity Forms, the more I'm impressed with it.

So I have yet another question. Using this tutorial I've managed to pre-populate a form field with custom data enteres in a logged-in users' profile. (Basically, I created some extra user meta fields, and had them popped into the profile, and created a dropdown of choices in a form based on what the logged-in user has in those fields. In this case, it's different addresses. So if the user is logged in, the addresses in his profile are set as the options in the dropdown.)

Now my question is this: can you create a form with options, and - using information placed in the usermeta - decide if those options are selected by default? the current code I'm using simply rewrites the entire options list, but I dont' want to do that. I just want to change the default selected item to whatever is set in the user's profile (if anything) - and revert to gravity Forms' selected default option if nothing is in t users profile.

Wow, I hope that make sense.

As an example, this is the code where I'm pulling data from the profile to create a dropdown list of addresses:

add_filter('gform_pre_render_32', 'populate_delivery_address_options');
function populate_delivery_address_options($form) {
	foreach($form['fields'] as &$field) {
 if($field['type'] != 'select' || strpos($field['cssClass'], 'delivery_options') === false) continue;
 $shipping = shipping_array();
 $choices = array(array('text' => 'Please Choose an Address', 'value' => ' ') );
 foreach($shipping as $name => $address) {
 $choices[] = array('text' => $name . ': ' . $address, 'value' => $name . ': ' . $address);
 }
 $field['choices'] = $choices;
	}

	return $form;
}

I suspect what I'm looking for is set in the $choices variable, but what I want to do is 1) grab the choices set in Gravity Forms form; 2) compare those choices against what's in the user's data; and 3) set one of the Gravity Form options as "selected" based on what's in the user's data.

Is this possible, and if so, how would I do that?

We have two different account types on a paid Buddypress site that utilize different profile fields. For each account type, I'd like to include the fields from the other account type as admin-only fields with no choice set so that when users switch account types, we can automatically remove the other profile fields from displaying on their profile. How can I prevent these fields from autopopulating information from BP x-profile fields?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I am currently using version 1.5.beta1.6 of the user registration addon. I am really impressed!

I would however like to know if you'll be adding support for profile field privacy which is now a part of BuddyPress. I'd love to use Gravity forms to replace the normal edit profile forms, however in order to use it fully with BuddyPress it would be great I could somehow provide the privacy options on the form too.
