Hi Daniel,

In Gravity Forms 1.6 the majority of the CSS was in one CSS file but in GF 1.7 the developers split it up into separate files to make it easier to maintain. The CSS Ready Classes are now in a file called readyclass.css so you will need to copy the contents of that file into your default.css file as well, once you have done that your fields should float into the correct positions.

Regards,
Richard

before latest 1.7 upgrade gf_left_half&gf_right_half 2 columns CSS ready classes worked perfectly but after I have transferred all formsmain.css file into buddypress default theme default.css file it doesn't work anymore, it is very probable because of my very strong form customization in the past, could you pls.help me to make it work again, in this form below:
http://4ella.com/2011/12/sensation-club-la-landrigga/
I would like text Email box and Cellulare in one line, and also possibly two photos fields in one line, I spent several days to play around with firebug to get it work but with no success.
thanks Daniel

I'm having the same issue, can you please provide me a link to this solution. I was able to layout the form as needed but now I'm running onto an issue with the form validation. If the form is incomplete, it reloads as the original form without the custom styling. How can I make sure that the form validation occurs in the custom layout?

see link:

Well I just bought the Gravity Forms plug-in for the primary purpose of creating an online rental application from my paper applications...based upon the claims of how easy Gravity Forms are to use. The first fields I need to enter are the First, Middle and Last names...very preferably on one line. From reading the thread above, it looks like that is not an easy option. Middle names or at least initials are critical in this application because they help to differentiate the individual from others with the same first and last names, which is a common occurrence when doing a background search in the public records. I hope this will become a priority sometime soon?

Thank you in advance!

1. Yes. If the user is logged in to your site, you can populate many fields in the form from values stored in their profile. You would set the default value of the field using these merge tags:

{user:first_name}

{user:last_name}

{user:display_name}

{user:user_email}

{user:user_login}

{user:[meta_key]}

Documentation can be found here: http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Merge_Tags

2. You could use something like GeoIP or the equivalent in a WordPress plugin, then use the gform_pre_render function to set the form field value. http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Gform_pre_render

3. Yes, you can see all our built in CSS classes for columns here: http://www.gravityhelp.com/css-ready-classes-for-gravity-forms/

Specifically:

gf_left_half

gf_right_half

gf_left_third

gf_middle_third

gf_right_third

4. No specific considerations were made to make Gravity Forms responsive, although I have had good experiences with Gravity Forms on mobile devices. You can also override any of the Gravity Forms CSS, or turn off the Gravity Forms CSS altogether, and rely on your responsive theme to do the work for the form fields.

No work has been done specifically to make the plugin Retina ready.
