Try rewording your opt-in condition question and using some fancy conditional logic.

Instead of asking them up front if they would like to subscribe to your newsletter ask them:

(1) Do you currently subscribe to my newsletter?
-------- yes
-------- no
-------- I don't know (for your conditional logic, this will function the same as a no)

If they say yes, ask them to fill out a brief survey so you can better sever them content they want - and which point show them the groups survey. If they say, no, ask them if they would like to opt in for your newsletter ~ and if they do, again, show them the groups survey.

The key here is to set the opt-in question to have a default of "YES" (the opt-in value), but to keep it HIDDEN if they say "YES" to question (1). By saying "YES," to question (1) they are forced to keep the opt-in question value set to TRUE, thus meeting the MailChimp submission opt-in conditions without even having to ask them.. Only by saying "NO" or "I DON'T KNOW," they are given the opportunity to change the MailChimp opt-in condition to FALSE. Here's to hoping they don't!

Does that make sense? Have I explained this well enough?

Your logic is slightly flawed in that the normal, retail price is $199 and you would pay $180, a savings of nearly $20. Yes, others might receive a higher discount, but they are taking a higher initial risk, and investing a higher amount of money up front. You could have done the same, so in a sense, the system is also fair in that respect.

By upgrading, you are gaining access to a lot of features, and I think, features worth more than the $199 normal price. There are many articles explaining how Gravity Forms prices low and how it is such a value.

If you feel you are being penalized in some way, I'm sorry, but we don't see it that way at all, and I would hope that your excitement to use our professional level add-ons and priority support would be an overriding benefit to you and your business. I hope you'll take a look at what our development license offers, and the continued new add-ons we've released, and consider upgrading. I feel that even our new Zapier add-on is worth the price of admission. Check it out if you haven't already. http://www.gravityhelp.com/gravity-forms-zapier-add-on-v1-0-beta-1-released/

But that doesn't make sense when you think about it. In my case, I bought the wrong license. I used a 25% off coupon. I will end up paying $30 to upgrade by paying $150 to move to a developer license which will bring my total payment to $180 (because I used a coupon). If I had purchased the license outright in the beginning, I would have paid $150. I am basically paying a penalty because I didn't get the license that was needed.

Why disincentivize people who want to upgrade by making them pay a penalty? It isn't the best pricing policy when you think about it. It discourages the very people from upgrading who would probably be your biggest supporters. Specifically, you are penalizing the very people who have already tried the product and want to give you more money.

Why would they pay more than a person who has never tried the product? It just doesn't make any sense.

I understand that it's your product and you can price it any way that you wish. I'm just saying that based on everything that we have learned about pricing theory in the last 50 years, this policy is guaranteed to result in a measurable loss of revenue for no clear reason whatsoever.

Nope, these plugins have been installed alongside the full plugin probably since the beginning. I've got GF and the same plugins installed on another client site with the same developer key and no alert messages at all.

The only other issue I currently see with a GF installation is I have an installation that shows me a new version of GF is available, but when I go to do the automatic upgrade routine it says the plugin is up to date. Should I just manually reupload the current plugin to the site using FTP?

Do you have other add-ons on this site not showing this message? Is this a new install or on a different server than you've previously used? Any specific or different thing you could tell us about the issue could be of great help.

Curious if there are some known issues with license key verification functionality for add-ons? I've got a warning in my plugins list for the MailChimp and PayPal add-on that I should register my plugin and/or purchase a license key. Which I have.

The key has been valid and is currently valid, but these two add-ons are displaying this message.

Any ideas?

The only way to do that is to not have an opt-in condition, and that's not really ideal as it would subscribe everyone. There isn't anything in between those (check them even if they don't opt-in?)

Hi,

I want to use GF MC addon to add people to different Mailchimp groups depending on the forms they are using.

When people use the forms and check the opt-in condition ('subscribe to the newsletter') everything works fine and the data is sent to mailchimp (name, email, group, etc.)

But, when people have ALREADY SUBSCRIBED to the newsletter, they don't check the opt-in condition (of course), so Gravity Form doesnt sent any data to Mailchimp... be it name, email, groups or anything.

How can I make sure GF always check if people are already subscribed and update their information (even when they don't check the "subscribe to newsletter" opt-in condition) ?

Thanks a lot.
