How can I add an HTML5 placeholder, that doesn't use the field label the way the 3rd party plugins do.

The field label and the placeholder are not the same thing and using one for the other is a poor hack.

How would I go about creating something like this?

image

I really want to like this product but I'm not really sure why layout is so complicated. Seems like there's a lot of unnecessary markup that's preventing the layout pictured in the link above. There has to be a better way then what I'm currently trying to do with css and absolute positioning on the fields.

There are no trials for this service and I'm finding this is far more complicated than had I written this form myself, including the ajax / backend, etc? Sorry to be so negative, I'm just a little surprised and frustrated by the lack of info or examples for this kind of thing though maybe I just haven't found it yet.

Hi, I'm using GF with the excellent clearit hack (here: http://www.gravityhelp.com/clearing-default-form-field-values-with-jquery/). With the input:focus pseudoselector I've gotten typed-in entry text to be a different style than the default content (default content is italic and gray, typing is normal and black).

The problem is, when you take focus away, the text you entered is grayed-out and the client doesn't like this.

Is there any way to make text boxes that have been filled out be a different text style than default content? I'm open to re-doing the javascript implementation if necessary.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Oh here's the site (currently in pre-release): http://asklegalbrains.com/

I am pretty new to GF and wonder if anyone can help;

I would like to position the labels (name & email) inside my field rather than above. This is for my newsletter sign up box shown in the footer here;

Hey guys,

I'm sure you're slammed right now with 1.7 upgrade issues. Thanks for taking a minute to help me out. I appreciate it.

I'm using the gform_enqueue_scripts hook to add a simple script to add html5 placeholder support to a form, which is loosely based on this tutorial: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-placeholder-text-in-gravity-forms/

I'm using the ajax submit feature. When I submit a form with errors, it looks like my custom script is injected into the iframe, which then throws an error due to jQuery not being loaded in the iframe.

Is there a way to prevent my script from loading/enqueueing in the iframe? Or is there a way to load jQuery in the iframe?

Sorry I don't have a link for you. I'm developing a site locally, but will upload it by end of day PST if I am able.

Thanks!

Hi,
I set all dropdowns to 'required', just added a blank line to the first dropdown but the required is still not working--I can still submit my votes even if I don't select some fields. I found some forums about this problem for regular forms--they said to check "enable values" but I can't find this setting for the polls. This is the page I'm testing:
http://virtualveganpotluck.com/voting-form-tests/
not sure what I"m missing, sorry if it's obvious and I didn't find it!
Thanks!!

Hi, I have some forms in a sidebar and wanted to just have a description in the form box that can be typed over...

Say: First Name

In the field box so dont want to show the label... to make form more compact...

Im sure this used to be able to be done in form styling but just gives label placement now..top left right, and description above and below...

So cant see how I just have a description in the box field?

example of what I have http://aronagh.com/life-coach/

in side bar, want say on Newsletter form to just have descriptions IN the boxes...

Many thanks, in advance :)
