Hello,

I have come across some topics about using Gravity Forms as an advanced search widget but didn't see any completed answers.

What I would like must be do-able with Gravity Forms. Basically I want to have 3-4 dropdown menus which contain my defined tags and when the user presses the search button, then the form should redirect to searching for the selected tags.

any tips on how to achieve this would be much appreciated.

Andy

I've build my form and when it is submitted it creates a post - but the post is blank! I need all the answers from the form to go into the post.

I've used 'Post Fields' -> 'Custom Post' and entered my questions in the 'Field Label' then selected the appropriate 'Field Type'. Do I need to create a custom field name? I've tried ticking and unticking 'Create Content Template' but I still get a blank post! Please help. How do I get my data to appear in a Post?

I have my categories all set up and the forms has several fields with the category post fields implemented and the 'select categories' button clicked and the proper categories selected. I am using the drop-down method, but also tried check boxes. When the form is submitted the post doesn't display the categories. All post show up as 'uncategorized'. How can I debug this? Seems like I am following everything correctly, but it just isn't working.

Hi

I am new to all this,

The Upload Post image button cannot be clicked.

Basically, I have 2 images, one is a happy face and the other one is sad.

What I do want to do is:
The Form only has 4 yes/no questions.

If q1 is yes, then go to q2, if no, then show the sad face.
If q2 is yes, then go to q3, if no, then show the sad face.
If q3 is no, then go to q4, if yes, then show the sad face.
Q4 will be the final "happy" face based on the last selection

I hope someone can help me sort this out.

Thanks

I'm working on setting up a new form that uses the Post fields to allow people to submit draft posts to a site. I love the idea of being able to create the post template using merge tags, but have one question:

Is there any way to set up any kind of conditionals within that template?

For instance, I am collecting a URL and a featured image in the form, but neither of those fields are required. If the user does not include those items, is there any way to leave them out of the Post Template? I'm not sure I can use them if there's no way to set up conditions for that post template. Otherwise, I'll end up with a lot of posts that include things like
<img src="" alt=""/>
or
<a href="">Foo</a>
, where the HTML values are blank because the information wasn't submitted with the form.

It would be nice if there was a way to say something like:
If URL and image are both filled in, use post template a
If URL is not blank, use post template b
If image is not blank, use post template c
If image and URL are blank, use post template d

Thanks.

Hi, I'm trying to create a form that uses a Post Field (Title, Body, Image, etc.) however when I try to save it, I get the "There was an error while saving your form. Please contact our support team." message.

Here's what I've tried so far in various combinations:
-Deleting and recreating the form
-Deactivating all of the plugins
-Uninstalling and reinstalling Gravity Forms using the Settings > Uninstall option then building a form again from scratch
-Checked the DB_CHARSET and DB_COLLATE defintions

I don't that that it is a server resource issue because I have another WordPress install on the same server using the same theme and I can save a form with a Post Field without error.

Can anyone make any suggestions on how to get around this error? I'd be happy to provide any additional information.

Thanks for your help.

WP Version 3.5.1
GF Version 1.6.12

I have several questions concerning uploading images through a form. I have tested both and would like a combination of the two, but need to know how to implement and if it's even possible.

When I use Post Fields > Image and a User uploads an image file, an Untitled Draft post is generated as my default Category. Then, a notification is sent to the Admin's e-mail and a thumbnail is visible in the body of the message. The image file is stored in a directory.

When I use Advanced Fields > File Upload and a User uploads an image file. Then, a notification is sent to the Admin's e-mail and a link to the image is visible in the body of the message. The image file is stored in a directory.

I was able to apply a filter to change the file upload directory, but still have concerns about this directory being unsecure and visible to the general public and search engines. (I had to update my .htaccess file to prevent directory browsing and still need to change my meta data to apply a no-follow tag for search engines).

How I would like the form to work:
1.) User uploads image.
2.) Notification is sent to Admin.
3.) Thumbnail is visible in e-mail and in Form Entries.
4.) Admin can click on thumbnail to view original file but needs to be logged in to do so.

So, my questions and concerns are as follows:
1.) How can I make uploaded image directory totally secure from anyone viewing?
• I do not require Users to be logged in.
• I run SSL on form pages.
• Current permissions of Upload Directory is set to 755.
• I would like to grant the Contributor Role a Capability to view the Upload Directory when logged in, but do not see an option in Roles setting in WP. (Users > Roles > Capabilities)

*I guess I could password protect the directory on the server side, but not sure if this will effect Users from the ability to upload images? And, I don't really want to deal with 2 separate logins.

2.) Since I want to see a thumbnail in Notification e-mails and in Form Entries, do I have to use Post Fields > Image only?

3.) If I have to use Post Fields > Image, is there anyway to avoid creating an Untitled Post for every single form entry a User makes?

4.) If I have to use Post Fields > Image and an Untitled Post for every single form entry a User makes is generated, how/where can I change the Category from my default category set in my WP settings for Untitled Posts (Settings > Writing > Default Post Category)?

Thanks!

This is weird. Whenever I submit a form, it creates a new blank draft post .....

I am not currently not emailing the form submission results to anywhere. Instead I am redirecting to a .php page using "Pass Field Data Via Query String". That works great.

The other weird thing is the category the post gets put into is totally random. Currently i have three draft posts - one says "-" for the category, one says "uncategorized", and one says "Thai IDN News", which is the single category I have.

Any idea why these draft posts are being created? I have latest versions of Gravity Forms, Gravity Forms ML and WPML.

There is a clue ... I have PHP debug on and there is a notice coming up when I hit submit saying something about ... Undefined Index: PostAuthor and the code is inside gravityforms plugin code. But its only up for half a second so very hard for me to make out the entire line, but the code is in gravityforms/forms_model.php on line 1443.

Hope that helps diagnose the issue!

If it helps, the shortcode I am using is:

[gravityform id="4" title=false description=false ajax=true]

Perhaps there is something "wrong" with that ....
