We are going to overhaul our entire documentation and are going to create some custom stuff to better manage it than the mediawiki system we are currently using. It won't have information for every situation, but we hope to make it more feature complete, and easier to search.

The documentation often seems to be hard to navigate. The search is not always the preferred option, where a more organised and categorised documentation can help.

For example, today I am trying to do calculations with number fields for the first time. I'd simply like to find a page in the 'Manual' and read about it.

I cannot find such a page - just a blog post announcing the feature for GF 1.6.4, but not explaining how it works or how to use it in any way.

I've looked manually, and I've searched various terms based around 'calculating number fields' - all of which show zero results.

We've looked over our notes here and have only successfully used the GF support/documentation for less than 25% of the issues (or rather, simple things that just need a little and quick instruction).

GF Priority Support is excellent, but is not really appropriate to ask 'How do I add two fields together'. This should be something I can learn myself with a short introduction.

Integrating BuddyPress search is not something we can help with. If it does not work as expected once you have it installed, I'm not sure how much work would be required to make it work. We do have a job board available if you need help: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/forum/job-board

davedavedave@me.com

Date Needed:
Within the next couple of months.

Project:
Add search field to forms page in Wordpress backend.
Limit form creation to specific number.

Description:
1. Add search field to forms page in Wordpress backend.

I would like a search field that search (obviously) the title of any form that is created.
The search field would be located in the same place on the forms page as the search field is located on the pages page in the Wordpress backend

2. Limit form creation to specific number.

I would like to specify how many forms can be created by a user. Say a user is allowed to created a maximum of 50 forms, they can add and/or delete forms until they reach their limit. I the user then tries to create another form which would exceed their 50 limit they will be greeted with a message informing them this is not possible and to contact the Administrator.

I will then need the ability to specify how many forms they can create, so I would just change to 100 if they require a total of 100 forms. Gravity Forms have a limit on their demo, I'm looking at replicating this, but adding the ability to specify how many forms can be created before a limit is reached.

So that's it for now.

Thanks in advance.

Got it. Except I cant open the link you provided on how to do tooltips, but I can do that once I'm signed up, if my client wants it.

What I'm not clear about is the search. You said it can be done, but I am not a programmer. Is there documentation on this? Or would you guys help me with this?

1. Multi-page forms are no problem

2. Tooltips are not a feature of Gravity Forms, although many people have added tooltip functionality on the front end by adding the appropriate scripts. Here is an explanation of how to do it, from a couple years ago: http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/add-help-tips-next-to-a-field#post-7277

3. State and Country drop downs are available already, and you can create your own custom selections for state and country (if you need to add more or leave some out) and those selections can be saved for reuse.

4. Conditional logic to conditionally show certain fields, based on earlier selections, is built in to Gravity Forms.

5. At the end of your form submission, you can require payment, using one of our payment add-ons. After that, you can direct the visitor to a page of your choice.

Search: Gravity Forms is not designed to create a search form. However, that too has been done in the past. You accept the input, then populate a search query, and redirect to that page. It can be done. You will receive a form entry for every search performed though, so you'll have to deal with all those entries somehow. We have instructions for deleting the entry immediately after it is created, if you want to do that.

Gravity Forms will store data in the usermeta fields you tell it to, so, it sounds like BuddyPress search will still work, since a user created via a Gravity Form will still use the usermeta keys,.

Integrating with a user profile page in BuddyPress: I'm not sure of that one. I think that a BuddyPress profile page will display all the meta keys if you configure it to. So, I think this will work as well.

Please let us know if you have any more questions before making your purchase recommendation.

Hello, I am currently using BP with x-profile fields and Membership plugin from WPMU Dev as well as BP Profile Search to search the members' profiles. It's ok, except the registration form is limited.

I need to create a more robust registration forms with the ability to:
1. Separate the registration process either into steps (multi-page) with a progress bar or at least into section of fields, such as Personal Details, Professional details, etc.
2. To be able to provide tool-tips for fields and/or descriptions for fields
3. To have State/ country fields (so we don't have to populate all)
4. Conditional fields option (ex: if "other" is selected show input field)
5. This is probably the most important. When Registration is submitted, it needs to follow the current setup where a person pays and redirected to a page set up by the Membership Plugin

Search Functionality
1. Can Gravity form be used to create a search form to replace BP Profile Search?
2. If not, the way BP Profile Search works is it lets you choose from all the profile fields created in order to search those fields. Will it still work with Gravity forms?

Lastly, To seamlessly integrate the submissions into the user profile, where they can edit the fields later on.

I know it's a lot of questions, but I need to know that this is going to work before I ask the client to invest into a developer license at this point in development.

Just to update this topic you can also use the filter gform_chosen_options to disable the enhanced user interface search feature when less than a set number of options are present or altogether.

You would add the following to your functions.php file

add_action('gform_pre_render','set_chosen_options');
function set_chosen_options($form){
?>
<script>
	gform.addFilter('gform_chosen_options','set_chosen_options_js');
	function set_chosen_options_js(options,element){
		// disable search if select has less than 5 options
		options.disable_search_threshold = 5 ;
		// to disable search altogether use options.disable_search = true;
	        return options;
	}
</script>
<?php
	return $form;
}

Find out more about gform_chosen_options and an example of how to limit the number of items which may be selected in a multi-select field on the following page of the documentation
http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Gform_chosen_options

Regards,

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to create an ajax enabled drop down that will perform a search through around 10,000 options. They are quite common these days and I feel I would break the server and browser by staically populating a dropdown with 10,000 items! therefore an ajax enabled dropdown is required where the user starts typing and suggestions are provided.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
