I've tried gform_replace_merge_tags, gform_pre_submission and maybe a couple of others... I've lost track. In my case, the option's value attribute is a WordPress post slug that would be meaningless to the person receiving the email, but necessary to have the field auto-populate via querystring. In the DB the value is saved ok, however, when viewing Form Entries (and pre-submit form data) for all the checkboxes and selects the values are displayed not labels. So I end up with not so informative IDs rather than names. I'm using {all_fields} merge tag without any filter modifications. Is there a way to display labels instead of values in the Form Entries screen? A "Subject" drop down has three options... > General inquiry > Media relations > Contact a specific location... When the 3rd is selected, it reveals another drop down with a list of locations. Each location option has an email as the value. I then set a routing rule with a merge tag that SHOULD grab the email for the selected location... "If 'Subject' is 'Contact a specific location' email {location-email:6}" However, it doesn't work. If I add a second address to the routing rule, like so "myemail@mydomain.com, {location-email:6}" - then I get the email, but second address from the merge tag is NOT included like it should be. So it looks like merge tags aren't working with email routing. :-/
