Interesting. Is there a better way to do this besides using paypal within gravity forms? I only say paypal because I've never done any kind of payment processing as a merchant myself, but i know i always like to see the paypal option, not sure if there are trust issues with other ways.

thanks for any input on this rob.

You can setup multiple PayPal feeds for each form. So you can have a Products/Services Feed and then a Subscription Feed. Your subscription feed has an option that can be enabled for a Trial Period, see this screenshot.

PayPal Standard doesn't support doing a one time payment AND setting up a subscription together. It's not supported by their API.

HOWEVER that doesn't mean there aren't ways to work around this limitation. You could simply use the Trial functionality that can be configured for a PayPal subscription. Enable a Trial Period and then configure the Trial Price so it incorporates the setup fee and the first month's fee, then set the Trial Period to 1 month.

This would effectively charge them the setup fee + first months charge as the fee paid up front, and then their recurring subscriptions would begin the 2nd month once the "trial" period ends. This is one way to get around the fact PayPal doesn't support having a "setup" fee on top of the recurring fee when creating a subscription, it's a PayPal limitation and not a Gravity Forms limitation.

Our Gravity Forms Authorize.Net Add-On which is currently in beta testing does support this because Authorize.Net supports it.

hi, before i buy i have a question to see if i'm able to use this for this functionality. i have a website where i offer 3 different price options, then I give people an option to get a subscription to my website with the first month free. i want to accept paypal for this.

am i able to have 3 different price options, like for example, say the base price is $50. if the person wants a subscription with the first month free, it would be $50 + $0 for the first month, then it would be $29 for every month after that (depending on the subscription they order, i want to have 3 different subscription options).

So for example, this is the order form i want
first they choose to buy the main product
main product has 3 options -> $50, $60, or $70

after that, they have option to get a subscription if they want, but not required.
the subscription i want to have is 1st month free, then after that it will be either $20, $30, or $40 depending on what they choose

and i want it to be through paypal. is this possible? i can explain it again if you need me to.. i just explained it 3x to make sure you know what i'm talking about.
