That's correct. We can't control what various pieces of software and as such, it isn't something we can fix.

I have a similar issue, when I reply from the Outlook WebApp, the customer's email is used as reply-to; but when I reply using Apple Mail on my iPad, the admin_email is used as reply-to; very strange. So the problem must be in the client, not in the GF plugin.

Sending the email from PostMark or Amazon SES will not resolve this issue. From what you described, the issue is with the GoDaddy web based email client that is being used. If it is not utilizing the Reply-To email when you click Reply then the client is simply not honoring the Reply-To data in the email.

So the issue is with the GoDaddy web email client itself. Sending the email itself using another service won't resolve this, the Reply-To functionality is standard email functionality and Gravity Forms doesn't handle it in any kind of non-standard way. The only thing I can suggest is work with GoDaddy's support to try and resolve the issue with the web client.

The only Plan B is use a different email client. That doesn't necessarily mean not use GoDaddy for email, it just means use something other than GoDaddy's web based email client. Although I would also advise simply not using GoDaddy for email at all. I'm not a fan of GoDaddy for anything hosting or email related due to the fact they are source of constant problems and issues when compared with alternative solutions.

Ok, that's what I thought.

Surprisingly, there was a time when this particular client was setup with Google Apps, but they wanted to switch back to GoDaddy because they liked it better. Go figure.

Let me ask you this: Awhile ago, you replied in a forum message I had posted about creating a GF third-party plugin for Postmark and Amazon Simple Email services. When those come out, do you think that utilizing either of those services with the plugin would fix this particular issue if I'm unable to resolve this with GoDaddy? Also, if those services could resolve the Reply-To issue with GoDaddy, do you know of a roundabout timeframe for the release of those third-party plugins you are working on so I can try and put together a "Plan B" gameplan?

<strike>Is this only happening when the notifications are sent to GoDaddy Web Based email?</strike>

<strike>Have you tested by having the notification send to a @gmail.com or @yahoo.com account and then see if the reply-to is utilized and working properly when using GMail or Yahoo's web based email?</strike>

I just realized you said this IS working when you send the email to your GMail. This means this is a GoDaddy Web Email issue. It sounds like they don't support the Reply-To data in emails.

There isn't anything we can do about this. GoDaddy would need to update their web based email interface. I'd like to say i'm surprised, but GoDaddy is notorious for problems in many aspects of how they do businesses as well as the quality of their products.

The only solution is going to be to use a different email client. I would suggest they use a 3rd party for email, such as Google Apps, etc.

Hello GF Team,

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue my client is having with GoDaddy Web-Based Email not using the Notification to Administrator's Reply-To field that I have programmed to use the 'Email' field from each form submission. Whenever someone submits the form and the administrator receives the notification, if they click the Reply button in their GoDaddy email, it fills in their (the administrators) email address instead of the email from the form submission. I believe it may be using the From field email address from the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin settings.

What's really frustrating is that I believe Gravity Forms is performing correctly, because whenever I have the form administrator notification sent to my personal Gmail account instead of their GoDaddy account, and I hit the Reply button, it pulls the email address from the 'Email' field in the form submission, which is what I want it to do for them in GoDaddy as well.

Another thing to note is that this was working for months. I asked them when did they notice the change and they stated it was as of a couple weeks ago. Nothing has been changed to their settings for at least 5 or 6 months, so I'm starting to think that maybe GoDaddy changed something that's causing it to require the Reply To email address be the actual email address it was sent from as opposed to the Email address from the form submission. Have you heard of anyone else having similar issues recently with GoDaddy Web-Based Email or otherwise?

My client was on an older version of GF until today, when I updated them to v.1.6.2. However, updating didn't help either.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your help in advance!
