I think browsers try to be too smart sometimes and fill in fields you may have filled in before, based on the field name. The Google Toolbar does that as well. It's particularly bad in password fields since by default you can't see the characters.

Glad you got it sorted and I'm sure it will help others with the same problem.

Fixed!

Thank you.

When I installed Gravity Forms it had several ****** in the license key entry field so i assume it was automatically populated based upon the download.

I manually entered it as per your instructions and then the auto=upgrade worked.

Thanks again!

If you are were running WordPress 3.0 beta or RC versions AND installed Gravity Forms 1.3.11 then automatic updates don't work and you have to upgrade manually to 1.3.12 which fixed automatic upgrade support in WordPress 3.0.

HOWEVER you mentioned "Both installs automatically had the license key as part of the install but I keep getting told to register in order to activate automatic upgrade." and this is a bit confusing. The license key isn't automatic. You have to manually enter it on the Settings page of the plugin (Forms > Settings).

If your license key wasn't entered correctly the automatic updates won't work.

Check to make sure your license key was entered correctly and pay special attention not to include any extra spaces or characters before or after the key. This can cause the key not to validate. Re-enter your key, save your Settings page and try it again.

Are you using one of the 3.0 beta or RC versions? I don't think automatic upgrade will work with 3.0, so you have to upgrade manually to release 1.3.12:

http://www.gravityhelp.com/gravity-forms-1-3-12-released/

There was some further advice from Carl regarding the keys previously:
http://forum.gravityhelp.com/topic/is-the-registration-key-the-same-as-the-support-license-key#post-5452

I purchased a multi-site license and have installed Gravity Forms on two different sites BUT I can't get automatic upgrade to work.

Both installs automatically had the license key as part of the install but I keep getting told to register in order to activate automatic upgrade.

But when I click on the register link it takes me to the gravity forms plug-in page where it already has my license key.

What am I doing wrong and how can I get auto upgrade to work?
