The Opt-in condition has no bearing on what aweber does.

If you enable an opt-in condition would YOU set a condition in GF to decide to add the person to you list or not.

GF ALWAYS sends a double opt-in by design

From the documentation:

-Control opt-in and only add subscribers when a certain condition is met.
-Automatically sends a double opt in message to insure only legitimate subscribers are added.

I really think single or double opt-in should be my decision but Aweber for GF always sends double opt-in

It appears AWeber is not honoring the option and are sending the confirmation email regardless of the setting when the subscriber is added via their API.

I'm not sure why they have chosen to do this, but AWeber has been notoriously tight when it comes to verifying that the user did indeed choose to subscribe and is not being added without their consent.

This may not be on GF side but just in case I thought I'd ask. In Aweber I
have NO checked to sending a confirmation for the user to subscribe to my list, but,
every time I use GF it sends it no matter what. But if i use there form generator
and put the code on my site Aweber does NOT send the confirmation.

So is Aweber treating all forms that are using an API this way? I really don't want
to send a confirmation. If this is the case, how do most folks get around this?

I guess I could use their code for the first page by asking for email and first name and
have the thank you page be GF's next page but I would have to some how merge the
two later and that could get messy.

I have a call into Aweber...
