We are currently using the standalone bbPress, we haven't had time to look into the plugin just yet but would prefer to use the plugin eventually if it works good so we can consolidate things a bit. But right now what we have is working good and we can customize it to do what we want.

I haven't used the bbPress plugin yet, but from what i've heard it is getting more and more stable. But I haven't actually tried it yet. But it's getting more development attention than bbPress itself is getting.

How functional and stable do you believe the bbpress plugin is verus the stand-alone install of bbpress? I've been hearing about the integration of the bbpress into wp directly, however, I haven't had an opportunity to speak with anyone who has actually used it. I would hate to start with it, and have it come crashing down on my head.

Gravity Forms is a WordPress plugin and isn't compatible as a bbPress plugin, so you couldn't install it on a bbPress site.

But WordPress can be integrated with bbPRess so when a user registers on WordPress they also do so on bbPress. That integration may work out of the box with the Registration Add-On, although I haven't personally tested it.

Another option is the bbPress Plugin. Look it up on the bbPress site, they are working on revising bbPress as a WordPress plugin rather than a standalone forum application.

I'm about to do an install of bbpress, as it seems that it will be the best for me at this time. However, my concern is that it will be a slow password generation for users, as WP is at times. so I have two questions.....

Question #1: Can I Install the gravity forms plugin on bbpress installs (I thought I'd ask, since you all seem to be bbress fans and coders aside from your obvious wordpress mastery).

Question #2: If i can install Gravity Forms on a bbpress install, can I use the registration add-on pack to handle the registration process for my users of the forum?. Or would it be better to have them register on the main site (www.maindomain.com) and use some sort of pluign to transfer the user registration over to the forum portion of the site (www.maindomain.com/support).

I was originally going to use simple press forums, but I have used them before and they are a little too buggy for me, I'd rather integrate bbpress install than a simple press install, however, I would like global registration to all portions of the site using Gravity Forms, OR.....simply use Gravity Forms to do the registration on the bbpress install? Any ideas?
