The user must be logged in to WordPress. There is no separate login to BuddyPress as it's just a WordPress plugin. The user needs to have an account on your WordPress site. Integration with Facebook is not a feature of Gravity Forms, but if you allow your visitors to log in to your site with something like Facebook Connect, they will be a logged in user as far as Gravity Forms is concerned.

Thanks for the information, and yes that is helpful. However, it doesn't answer the question about the Facebook/buddypress part. Can anyone there confirm regarding this aspect of the forms submissions? Specifically, it says:

"Use logged in user as author
Select the author that will be used for the post that is created by the form entry. "

That's great, but it doesn't say what the user has to be logged in to. Facebook? Buddy Press? Wordpress? Where do they have to have an account for this to work?

If you could find out about that it would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Rob

Have a look here at the options available:

That should hopefully help answer your questions.

Thanks, David. Just one more question...When you configure who the author would be, can you say "current user" or something similar so that if the person is logged in it will use them as the author?

And I'm wondering if the user who is logged in has done so using Facebook connect through buddy press, what happens. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Gravity Forms if it can handle this but if it can't I will be stuck with something that I don't want to use. Is it possible for you to find out what's possible when dealing with a configuration like this?

Thanks,
Rob

Of course you can have them post without logging in by default. You can set who the author would be and that's it.

Ok, thank you for responding so quickly. Does the use have tI be logged in to submit a post? If I can't connect it to the buddy press profile I would just let them post without a log in.

Thanks,

Gravity Forms out of the box can collect information and create a WordPress post from it, with the author being the logged in user. I don't know the difference between a buddypress user and a WordPress one, so that might not work as expected, but everything else is outside the purview of Gravity Forms. In terms of displaying which posts have been created and whatnot in an archive page.

Hello, I have tried searching the forums but I can't see the answers because I haven't bought the product yet. I'm interested in buying it because it looks like a really good product, but I wanted to get a few answers first. What I'm trying to do is as follows:

I have a Wordpress site and I have the buddy press plugin. I would like to create a form/post page, which allows a logged in user (buddy press user not Wordpress) to complete the form (the form have 3-4 small text boxes and an image upload option) which then submits the information as a post to my Wordpress blog. If possible, I'd love for the post to show which Buddy Press user created the post and a summary of all the posts in the buddy press profile (this is not essential, just a nice to have).

Out of the above, what can Gravity forms do?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Rob
