@sweetlid, please begin a new topic for your issue and we will help you there. Please be sure to include a link to the page on your site where we can see the form. However, it sounds like the issue in your case is in the form builder, with it not remembering the checkbox choices you made. In that case, please be sure you are using the latest WordPress and Gravity Forms, then check for theme and plugin conflicts by using these steps http://rkt.gs/testing

I HAVE checked boxes in the back end, but they do NOT display as pre-selected on the public form. In fact, as soon as I click "Update Form," my pre-selections are wiped from the back end. Any ideas? THANKS!

Josch. When you add the checkbox field to the form, do not pre-check the option in the form builder. When the form loads, the box will not be checked. If you check the box, that option (even if there is just one) will be checked when the form displays.

If you inadvertently check a radio button selection in the form builder, that will be rendered as pre-selected when the form is displayed, as well. Once you have selected one radio button, you can't ever go back and uncheck all radio buttons in the form builder. You would have to delete that radio button choice which was pre-selected, and add that same option in again.

Hi Kerry,

nice. And HOW did you figure that out? There are other people who run into the same problem ;-) This is what a support forum is for - not only ask but post solutions someone found out by himself.

TIA,

That will only work if there is text in the field next to the check box. I want that field empty and I only want people to check the box if they agree to the terms. I am using a form here http://fossil.agu.org/agu-conflict-of-interest-policy-and-process/ however, I removed the check box and put a radio button instead and it worked fine. However, we want a check box and not a radio button.

Is this possible?

Yes, when you add a checkbox field, in the back end, you can check or uncheck it as a default value on load. So if it is checked in the back end, then by default, it will be checked on form load, and if it is unchecked in the back end form builder, then it will be unchecked by default when the form loads.

I would like to have a checkbox on a form that does not default to being selected when you open the form. Basically, I want people to only check the box if they agree to the terms and conditions. Is this possible with only 1 checkbox?
