I found the solution. It was my mistake. I didn't have the portuguese language, i had the portuguese brasilian language. I didn't thought correctly because for us portuguese or portuguese br is almost the same, but for wordpress of course it is not, so wp doesn't assume that if there is not portuguese, the "next language to look up" would be if there is portuguese brasilian. I changed the files to -pt_PT instead of pt_BR and all was working.

Unfortunelly the translation is not very complete, or at least the error messages as that was what i wanted. I opened the pot file using poedit and i already have translated some. It's a easy process, i thought translating plugins was going to be some voodoo stuff.

1494 lines will take some time but i intend to finish the translation to portuguese. Then i will send to David or Carl. My little contribution.

@ccasas You shouldn't need to edit common.php. To translate Gravity Forms you need to translate the POT file located in the languages folder and create a language file for the plugin. A tutorial on how to translate a WordPress plugin can be found here:

http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2007/08/27/localizing-a-wordpress-plugin-using-poedit/

You can also use the Codestyling Localization plugin to translate Gravity Forms. You can find this here:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/

If all you want to translate are the sublabels for the advanced fields (Name, Address, etc.) you can use the sublabel filters to change the text by adding some custom code to your themes functions.php file. Documentation for this can be found here:

http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Developer_Docs#Sublabels

Alternatively you can translate Gravity Forms using the WPML plugin and their Gravity Forms Add-On. You can get more information on WPML here:

http://www.wpml.org

You should never edit the core Gravity Forms files themselves as your changes will be overwritten by software updates and we always recommend users run the latest version of Gravity Forms and update when updates are available.

HI! I had the same problem what I did was edit the common.php file, and replaced the english words with spanish words, especially on the sublabel filters, I edited the php with Dreamweaver then replaced it on the server and that's the way I solved it.

It would be nice to have more control on the language packs.

I am with some doubts concerning the use of other language than english.

I see i have the portuguese translation in /languages in my gravity froms folder. But i am yet to see a single line translated. I searched the settings of the plugin, and couldn't find a way to select the language, so i assume that it chooses which language to show based on the default language of the wordpress. But my default language in wordpress is already in portuguese, and other plugins when presented with the portuguese translation file, display properly.

So, what i am missing to put other language (in my case, the portuguese one) working?

Thanks in advance.
