Sounds like you will need to protect the page where the download is stored, and only allow authenticated users to access the page. In that case, you might want to look into one of the membership plugins for WordPress. They typically offer a way to protect content and restrict it to certain users only.

Thanks Chris !

I'll look into that, though I believe my client is hoping to provide access to downloads as long as user is registered — this is for a developer SDK and other associate code snippets etc., so time limited might not be the best option.

But I'd see that work for other projects.

I would use the PluginBuddy S3 URLs plugin to offer time-limited download links to your content.

http://ithemes.com/free-wordpress-plugins/s3/

You can force your users to register and agree to your terms before showing them an Amazon S3 link, which will expire after some period of time, so there can't be any sharing beyond that time period.

I am trying to restrict access to certain downloads on a website. There is no commerce or transaction required to access content, rather the user must agree to terms of service and a license agreement prior to download.

The content needs to be kept exclusively for members to download —even return to download.

Could anyone give me some idea of how I might be able to handle this using Gravity Forms or would you say, from what I have described so far, that is an application better suited to a membership site such as S2, Wishlist, or Gravity Forms "User Registration" plugin, or some other membership plugin. I've looked at some of these but would rather not have to create a page where the typical WP login page pops up — I'd like the simplicity of designing my own form to capture, email, name and agreeing to license and terms. From upon accepting this directing user directly to the content download page.
