I don't know if this is out of date, but somebody created a tutorial here:

Any advance on this? Adding the button is simple, but you're right - I followed the trial some way to work out the rest, and it's complex. Has anyone done a tutorial, or even given a few pointers?

Yes, it is possible to create and add a custom field type to Gravity Forms. The hook you would use is gform_add_field_buttons and the documentation is here:

http://www.gravityhelp.com/documentation/page/Gform_add_field_buttons

It is, however, a more advanced customization and we don't currently have a tutorial that discusses how to do this step by step. But it is something that would make a good tutorial so I will discuss this with the team and we can look into writing one up.

I am looking at the possibility of creating a plugin for Gravity Forms that will add a new custom field type to the list of possible field types that can be used within a form. I haven't been able to find any documentation on your site that indicates either if this is possible, and if so, what type of Gravity Forms license would I need in order to do my development. Could you please point me in the right direction?
