First you need to double check to make sure the custom field is being stored by editing the post in the Post Editor in the WordPress Dashboard and make sure the custom field value is being stored. If it is not, you need to make sure on that custom field in Gravity Forms you have configured it so it has a custom field name (which is used to store the data).

WordPress Custom Fields are WordPress functionality, not Gravity Forms functionality. You'll have to read up on how to use Custom Fields. Here are some tutorials:

I want to have a custom field show up in my post but it isn't working, any ideas what is wrong?

Basically I want to have the author name that I am having entered in a custom filed titled "author name" show under the body of the post which is coming from the body filed under post fields.

Thanks
