Yes, one of the things we are going to look at next year is adding editing capabilities so you can use forms to edit existing data and posts.

It was mentioned in the forums a couple of times that you're looking at extending the functionality of post fields, etc. in 2011.

Is this something that might be included in that?

Currently this is not possible, the only way to edit entry data is in the backend admin.

If your form creates a post, those are only created at the time the form is submitted. After that, in order to edit a post you do so using the Post Editor in the WordPress dashboard.

However you may be able to cobble something together using existing plugins such as a plugin that allows users to edit their own posts on the frontend.

OK, I've looked around the forums and learned a little about post fields and displaying form data in posts. But, I'm not sure if the following can be done (without any custom coding):

I would like to have several outsourced employees calling vendors asking information and filling out a form on our website. We would capture the entries and display the results in posts on our website.

The problem is they may not get all of the information (or the correct information) on the first call. So, maybe a few days later we will call the same vendor back and try to get the remainder of the information.

I would like to add data (empty fields from the first submission) and edit existing data from the original entry on the website (NOT logged into the backend). Is this possible?
