I have the same problem. Running Gravity Forms 1.6.2. We, too, had the same problem. Have discovered that IE9 will not allow the Hook name to be saved into the form. We had to resort to using Firefox 9 and were able to save the Parameter Name. Frustrating.

Hope this helps someone.

I'm selecting "Allow field to be populated dynamically" and entering a value for the Parameter Name. After saving the form, the Parameter Name doesn;t seem to be saved. When I go back into the Advanced tab to check, "Allow field to be populated dynamically" is still selected but the field for Parameter Name is empty.

Am I missing something?
