One of our developers has a workaround/solution coming for this, but he's currently on his honeymoon. I've since discovered that this occurs even when Courseware is disabled. Any ideas what might be causing the problem, if not Courseware? After contacting the developers of Courseware (the plugin we thought was causing the conflict), I tried disabling their plugin to see if my Gravity Form would work inside the Buddypress group without it. And still it didn't work. So I'm wondering if maybe it's a bigger or different problem. Were you able to identify any further details about the conflict? I'm wondering if it might be related to a different plugin – or indeed if you've ever known Gravity Forms to work with a Buddypress site?
