The default value is designed to be used exactly like this: if there is no submission from the user, use the default value. </p> <p>If you want to add some placeholder text in the field that can prompt the user, that's a different issue we can help with. Looking at your form, it looks like you need placeholder text or tooltips, not default values as you have used them.</p> <p>I see that when there is a validation error, you change the field to yellow. It sounds like you want to change it to white when the user clicks into the field, to correct it.
