"No duplicates" functionality is built in to Gravity Forms for many field types. However it is NOT built in for the name field due to the complexity of the field. What you can do is use a plain text field, call it "Name" and check the "No duplicates" functionality and it will work exactly as you expect.

I have been searching all over the place for a form that has a "unique name field" meaning that when a user enters text into this field it must have never been submitted before by any other user. If the "name" they entered has been entered before, the form prompts them to try something else.

Does Gravity Forms have something like this?

And if not, do you think something like this would be complex to add-on with some database queries?
