When using Firefox, does the textarea work normally in the form preview? If so, I think you have a plugin or theme conflict. There are a ton of scripts being loaded in that page and it's hard to guess which one could be creating a problem for you. This is related to the multiple line input box. Now suppose I write a few lines and then try to click on a particular letter, the cursor only goes to the beginning or the end of the whole text. This happens only on Firefox.
