Cool. I hadn't tested the plugin with a form yet so it's good to know. Thanks Chris.

I just tried the RSSless plugin on a 3.0-alpha installation and it activated fine. I inserted two forms into one post and wrapped them both in the [rssless] shortcode with the optional text='whatever' to be shown in the feed reader (aka email client). In Google Reader it works exactly as expected. I was even able to use HTML in the optional text to say 'visit the website to submit this form.' Plus, the post still looks normal. So, this is a 100% solution. Thank you.

I will check tomorrow to see what the email looks like when it arrives but I think this did the trick.

That plugin looks like it has the right idea. It's a little old but I will give it a shot or figure out how it works and adapt it. I think that's the ticket for hiding things like the form in the email, and setting some alternate text too, to get them to the website.

Thank Kevin. That will take care of the problem without trying to figure out exactly what happens when you submit a form from any of dozens of webmail or desktop email clients.

If you're interested in simply hiding the form from the feed, you could try something like this plugin. It lets you wrap a shortcode around content you want to exclude from rss feeds.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rssless/

You can even pass alternate text to display in the feed via the shortcode if you want.

Good question. I honestly don't know the answer. I would have to look into what is possible with the RSS feeds. Right now we have nothing to do with it as WordPress handles this functionality. I'm not sure what is technically possible, I will have to do some digging.

So, if I have a form in a post, and that post is sent out in an RSS to Email campaign with something like Feedburner, Feedblitz or Mailchimp, what happens in the email? It doesn't seem like you can submit a form from an email, maybe dependent on your email client or webmail service. Is there a way to present one content in the post on the website (show the form) and alternate content in the email (something like "Please visit the website to complete the form") in the place where the form was?

I seem to recall receiving email at one point that was a form and I was able to submit, from gmail, but maybe that's not universal.

This is probably more of a WordPress question, but I was just wondering if you had any experience with this working (form just works in an RSS to Email campaign) or using an alternative (presenting alternative content in the emailed post.)

Thank you.
