How about creating different forms, embedding them each into individual pages, then put those pages into the tab interface? You can pass the information from form one to form two, etc, and then all the information will be in the final form and you can ignore entries for the other forms. One benefit I just thought of is that you will have partial entries from anyone who abandons the process before completing the final page.

Gravity Forms itself uses tabs when building forms, so would be greatly appreciated if this was a feature on the front end.

Styling the progress to look like tabs isn't a clever idea.

You are correct, they would still have to click next/previous buttons to go back and forth. Either way, it would require a great deal of coding, as there isn't any easy way to get a single form into a tab set-up.

And be able to go back and forth? Because right now going back by clicking on the progress bar is not possible...

Possibly, but I have not yet see that done. It will likely require a lot of customization. You could possibly style the progress bar to look like tabs?

Is there a way to show a multiple page form as a tabbed form like this example?
http://demo.rsjoomla.com/tabbed-form-example

where every page is a different tab
