Just checking in on this and fishing for the latest. Looks like you've all been working hard on many updates for GF so curious if this is still a possibility for this year.

Thanks!

No release date. Gravity Forms development delayed things. But it will be sometime this year.

@dixhuit
Another option for metafields is a plugin called verve.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/verve-meta-boxes/

It is very robust, and works perfectly in every scenario I have tried. The best part is it ties in perfectly with custom post_types in wp 3.0beta2.

I can't speak to tying custom fields into gravity, as I have not done that yet, but I can say for metabox creation verve is very strong.

I used it for some time, until I learned to create my own post_types and metaboxes directly within my theme admin. I'd go into how to do that, but it would take weeks to explain. Needless to say, with wp 3.0 all the tools are readily available. It is just going to take a lot of homework on your part if you don't want to use a plugin for meta creation.

Would be really nice to see a writeup on how to use gravity to populate custom post_types metaboxes via the front end though.

Hey Carl.

Any news on this Magic Fields-esque product announcement yet?

@JasonCrunch: I wasn't saying you'd wasted my time. By 'wasted' I guess I was referring more to the constant process of learning and re-learning different plugins and techniques all the time. I know, it comes with the territory, I should know that by now, I'll stop wining...

My time spent with Magic Fields the other day was useful and made me realise that it's come on a bit since the last time I gave it a try. I'm gonna use it in a project I'm about to start so if anything I should be thanking you for prompting me to take another look. Cheers! :)

I too am a Pods user. Pods is very powerful but far from perfect. I'm still not completely convinced by the way it seems to sit on top of WP as opposed to integrating nicely. The combination of the Pods and MF serve as a great temporary fix for a custom content CMS (along with countless other smaller plugins - TinyMCE Advanced and Members are a must).

However, a more robust, easy to use and better supported replacement would be welcomed. The new custom post (they so should have called it custom 'content') features of WP3 look very promising and I admit that Carl's hint towards a new product in a similar vein to Magic Fields has got me excited. Whatever it is, I dearly hope that it integrates with Members and has Import / Export features for easy modular re-use over mutliple projects

More hints please Carl :)

Magic Fields works like a charm for every application i have used it for - which is a few - it is probably a little odd and buggy - but i use it in its simplest form. It creates nice admin custom field boxes quickly and easily. I then use that custom field data in various ways that have nothing to do with Magic Fields - it just gives me an interface.

I apologise for wasting anybodies time. I might add i use the latest MF Beta.

PODS may be coded better and more stable, but since MF is doing the trick for me i haven't needed to play with it.

I now sit and wait for the upcoming announcement. I have used forms in a radically different way since purchasing Gravity Forms, so if something cool and useful that can make my life easier for 10 minutes comes along, i am interested!
