We are going to default those capabilities to active for the Administrator role when you install Gravity Forms.

If you install the Members plugin after you install Gravity Forms we will also do a check and add the appropriate capabilities to the Administrator role.

So by default, the Administrator will have access to everything... which is standard anyway.

Thanks Carl for fixing that. I would recommend the instructions be changed to either check for the Members plugin and display a warning (I wonder if any other member capabilities plugins have the same issue) or explain that you need to configure the Members plugin to be able to use Gravity Forms. Or maybe there's a way to default the installation to allow those capabilities?

Thanks once again for looking at that so quickly.

@illinoisharley I have logged in using the account you gave me and checked the Members plugin role settings for the Administrator and that is what the issue was as Alex described above. I turned on all the Gravity Forms related capabilities for the Administrator role and everything is working now.

@jan I suspect this is the same issue you are having. I sent you an email. If this isn't the same issue let me know and we can dig deeper.

illinoisharley,
The issue here is that you have the Members plugin installed and by default you won't have any of the Gravity Forms permissions. That is why you don't see the menu. You don't have permission do see it. Could you go to the Members plugin "Roles" page and give your user some or all of the Gravity Forms permissions and let us know if the menu shows up?

Thanks for the feedback. We will probably make an adjustment to Gravity Forms so that you have the proper permissions when installing the plugin.

Hey Chris, I sent you an email. Check it out when you have a chance. We will need to look at your WordPress admin directly in order to be able to debug why it isn't showing up.

I disabled the two events plugins to see if they were messing with the admin, but with them both disabled I still did not have a forms admin menu item, or a dashboard item.

Do you have to run any sort of upgrade script to move from 1.1.3 to 1.2 beta?

Same issue here. I had 1.1.3 installed and activated, but never created a form. Then I went to install the 1.2 beta. I attempted to upload from my desktop, but the gravityforms folder already existed, so it failed. I deleted the Gravity Forms plugin and then uploaded 1.2 beta and activated it. No errors. I don't have the Forms entry in the admin under Comments in the left menu. I also don't have the info box on the dashboard.

I logged out and back in and it did not show up. I've never had to do that for another plugin but I tried it anyway.

I am using WP Super Cache 0.9.6.1, but have caching turned off for logged in users (so admin stuff wouldn't be cached.)

Under the Comments admin menu item, I have Events from http://meandmymac.net/plugins/events/ . Maybe if they compete for the same menu slot something fails?

Here is a list of my active plugins:

404 Notifier
Contact Form 7
Custom Field Redirect
Dashboard Notepad
Executable PHP widget
Google Analytics for WordPress
Gravity Forms
NextGEN Gallery
No Self Pings
Obfuscate E-mail
pageMash
Query Posts
Remove Meta Tags
Robots Meta
Super _ck_ Fold Page List
Template Tag Shortcodes
Widget Logic
WP-Cycle
WP Super Cache

Here's a screenshot of my admin sidebar:
http://chrishajer.com/bbpress/no-forms-menu.png

So you don't see the navigation show up on the left hand side?

Have you tired logging out and then back in? Sometimes right after activating a plugin the nav items won't show up right away.

Are you running any kind of caching plugin such as DB-Cache? This can also cache the admin queries and prevent new things from showing up.

Another thing to look at is a possible plugin conflict. What plugins are you running on the site besides Gravity Forms?

Although I see it in my list of activated plugins, I can't see the Gravity Forms panel. This happened after I installed 1.2 beta.
