It's a good suggestion and a good discussion. Thank you for posting it. Gravity Forms is always involving to include best practices, and we'll be sure to consider this in the future. Thank you.

Thanks Carl & Chris.

In the past, an h3 has worked just fine for me as I went along with what I'm starting to think is an outdated mode of thinking:

h1 - Company Name / Website name / Logo
h2 - Page title
h3 - This is the then fine for a form heading

But with HTML5-talk promoting a different format of organizing page content, something more like :

hgroup
h1 - company/website name / logo
h2 - tagline
/hgroup
hgroup
h1 - page title
/hgroup
form
h2 - form title
/form

With that in mind, I think that having the option to change this is pretty key, particularly in keeping your pages relevant. I imagine a lot of people aren't asking for it because they aren't aware of the importance / validity of having (or in this case, not having), meaningful heading tags. I believe that TwentyEleven itself even outputs h1 tags as the page title, so a lot of people using Gravity Forms are probably ending up with h3s under h2s.

@Chris - that idea works, except that it removes certain dynamic abilities, like Confirmations that show text instead of do page redirects...so my original title / description (ie, the one I'd enter in WordPress itself vs. Gravity Forms) would still be showing up after the form was submitted.

Anyway, love GF and that's just a suggestion. It could probably just be a setting in the Form Settings area, or perhaps even better, in the WP Page / Post Editor, where you get to choose if you show the description / title at all: "Use which heading tag: h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, fieldset legend?"

You could opt to NOT display the form title, then include your own markup with the title wrapped in an H2. I've done that in the past when I needed a different style or heading hierarchy for the form title.

Currently there is not. The output can't be customized as far as that goes. It may be something we could add as a hook in a future release. It's never been requested so I don't see it as something we would add as an option in the UI.

Does anyone know if there's a way to change the Title of a form from an H3 tag to an H2?
