You can open up your text editor (notepad, etc) add the line the host indicated and save it somewhere as ".htaccess" (no file extension) Then, you'll want to upload this file to your root folder on your hosting account.

This should enable php5 for you and then get your Gravity Forms install working properly.

If you still have problems, let us know and we'll try to help more if we can.

Hi,

I have just purchased Gravity Forms and I am having problems activating it.

I get the error same as this one:

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /.../../../wp-content/plugins/gravityforms/gravityforms.php on line.."

Which I found in your support FAQ's.

In the FAQ's It says this is likely an issue with the site running PHP4 not PHP5 and to contact your web-host to see if the site PHP5 enabled.

I contacted my web-host outlining the problem and what you said in the FAQ's and they sent this replay:

"Hi Lee,

To allow php5 code to be executed within a .php file you need to create a .htaccess file containing the following line

SetEnv DEFAULT_PHP_VERSION 5"

I'm not really sure what this means of how to implement it and wondered if you could help/give me some advice on what to do from here so I can get the plugin working.

Many thanks in advance.
