The default post category hasn't been removed. You can find it here:

- Add a Post Title to your form or edit an existing Post Title

- Post Category appears in the Properties tab under the Default Post Author as "Post Category"

The above also applies to the Post Body fields as these options appear on both.

No. The category you set in the Post Title and Post Body fields are the same. If you change it in one, it changes in the other. This is because you can have a Post Title field on the form without a Post Body field and vice versa. So you are able to change this setting on both.

The form doesn't create categories, if it doesn't exist it isn't selectable. If you wanted to suggest a category you would have to have an input field and provide them with the ability to submit one but you would have to create it after reviewing it. There is no category creation.

What about categories that don't yet exist? Any way that a user could submit a proposed category in context of the post category field? i.e. select a category or enter one in a field if it doesn't exist?

Question: If you set a default category in Post Title field, would that automatically apply to the Post Body field? There wouldn't be an instance whereby the category would differ for each of these fields? Is there a global setting?

Yes, you don't have to add the Post Category drop down to the form. There is a "Category" option available in the Post Title and Post Body field settings that lets you set the category for the post that is created so you can default it and not allow it to be selectable by the user.

When using GF to allow users to submit posts, it is likely that the site owner will want to restrict those user-submitted posts to a specific category.

As such, it would be very useful if the Post Category field could remain hidden, there's no point showing the user an option they cannot change.

Is there already a way to do this?
