@thulbourn If you need to import data it can be done via SQL, we can provide you with some guidance if you absolutely need to do so. Drop me an email at carl@rocketgenius.com about it and i'll see what we can do to give you some guidance on it.

Import functionality, while very valuable to some users, isn't as critical to our overall user base. The majority of our users don't have existing data to import, and all data is created going forward after installing Gravity Forms. I understand it can be critical to some use cases, but it just hasn't been something that has been demanded by our user base to push us to focusing development efforts on it up to this point.

Importing entry data is much more complex than it sounds. Because forms are whatever the user makes, it adds complexities because to import data you need to make sure that where you are importing the data makes sense for it's destination, etc. There are a wide variety of complexities involved.

We do plan on tackling it in the form of an Add-On. We plan on pulling out the export functionality and making a robust Import/Export Add-On that will not only provide more advanced export functionality, but also enabling importing of entry data. I can't give you a timeframe because it's just one of a long list of features or add-ons we'll be developing as Gravity Forms continues to evolve. It's difficult to give any kind of timeframe on development that hasn't yet begun.

But if importing data is critical, drop me a line and we can see what we can do to provide you with some guidance on how to accomplish it via SQL. It sounds like based on your last thread post that you have got it under control for what you wanted to accomplish.

If anybody needs some PHP code to import from a CSV file into Gravity Forms then place a post here and I'll try to figure out how to get it to you, or I'll post it somewhere on my own site.
It isn't a plugin.
It is written for a very specific import.
It isn't supported.
But it might help you get started... it's fairly straightforward.... :)

Even if no Plugin importer, any hints on SQL needed to inject data in here so developers can at least get information transferred in from an existing system?
This is a fundamental feature requirement for a system like this - it's going to mean people go elsewhere, which is a shame because gravity forms is a pretty nice form system, apart from the inability to import :-)

One more vote - working on an online ordering system for a client, and having all the data in GF is key so they don't have to work with new orders from GF and old orders from their other system.

Do you have a projected timeframe for this functionality? I'm sure most of us understand that it takes time to develop a tool like this, so even if you say "we're hoping to get it done in the next year", we'll know what to expect.

Cheers,
Graham
