@Jack Bodiless Nowhere on the Gravity Forms site, Documentation or within Gravity Forms itself do we market, promote or advertise that there is "Import Entry" functionality and we certainly aren't misleading people into believing there is.

The Import/Export functionality is clearly promoted as: Export Entries, Export Forms and Import Forms. Forms can be Imported and Exported, however Entries can only currently be Exported as a CSV file. Entries themselves cannot currently be imported.

The fact of the matter is we have over 325,000 active customer sites running Gravity Forms. This is a very large user base. Out of that user base the 8 users requesting Import Entry functionality in this thread make up the bulk of the users requesting this functionality.

While the functionality may be important to you and the others on this thread, it is not a feature that has been heavily requested enough by our user base as a whole to move it up on our internal development to do list. over more highly requested features that are currently in development such as calculations, conditional notifications and confirmations capabilities which will be introduced in the next release.

That does not mean it will never be added. Import Entries is definitely a feature we do plan on adding in the future. However, as we are a small development team we must focus on the most heavily requested features and functionality when prioritizing development.

Users that want import entry functionality because they are migrating a WordPress site from one location to another shouldn't be using any kind of Gravity Forms import/export tool. You should be import/exporting your entire WordPress database from one location to another using a database tool.

I do not appreciate you accusing the Gravity Forms team of somehow misleading people on this matter. We certainly aren't laughing at anyone on this thread and I do not appreciate your combative tone and response on this forum post.

We do not speak to nor treat our customers this way, and frankly we don't put up with our customers treating us this way or throwing around accusations the way you have in your response. Therefore we will be refunding your Gravity Forms purchase and you and your client can use another form solution.

Just fell into the same trap!

The ridiculous thing with this is that It takes 5 minutes to actually make a new form on a new site...

So I sadly believe that the Export/Import function for the actual form is just a trick to get the potential buyers to think that there is a fully functioning import/export function...

The fact that these threads about this problem have been going on for years should have alerted the developers to this problem of the "misunderstanding" (misleading more like) and should have gotten them to develop a solution or made it VERY CLEAR IN CAPITALS THAT GRAVITY FORMS CAN NOT IMPORT ITS OWN EXPORTED FORM ENTRIES!!

I am embarrassed towards my client and have to restart with another service...

Please let us know if anyone has a better solution to get surgical into databases to get the form data... Thats no help at all... The support admin Mr.Hancock is basically laughing at our faces!

Shame... Please FIX!

I'm just now realizing that I can't import entries either. That was the main reason I purchased GF was because of the import/export feature...just didn't realize that it only applied to forms and not entries.

I'm kind of shocked that importing entries isn't part of the plugin. I have to move six sites (all with GF forms) and I'm just gonna lose that data? Not happy.

Any chance to have some help for safely importing entries?
Some php script or something else, since phpMyAdmin isn't recommended.

The entry data goes in the rg_lead, rg_lead_detail and rg_lead_detail_long tables. So there isn't a single table they go into. They are stored across multiple tables for performance reasons and the bulk of the data is serialized.

If you just want to match a membership form and not necessarily the users themselves you could export the form and import it into the new site, then setup the User Registration Add-On on the new site. If you want to import the data itself, it becomes much more complex.

The data I'm importing includes the extra fields I'm going to create with the Gravity Forms User Registration Add-On. What table do they go into? I want to match a membership form I created on another website.

If you are importing user registration data you want to import the WordPress users itself, otherwise they won't exist in the new site. Gravity Forms User Registration Add-On creates users in the wp_users table just like WordPress does because it creates WordPress users.
