Just wanted to +1 this request. It would really make my form a lot clearer, and it seems like something the Devs could accomplish pretty easily, as the code for this type of stuff is used all over the place. In fact, the categories are indented this way on the Gravity Forms UI itself if you try to manually select your own categories! :D

Thanks!

Carl,

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I will have to go with the double dropdown - parent first then conditional child display. I do have about 250 categories (parent and child included), so this will not be the most fun exercise, and I'll also have to change my code to deal with it.

However, once it's done it's done, so there's that to look forward to..... :)

Currently there is not a hack or option to implement this on the Post Category field display.

Depending on how many categories you have and how often they change, you could work around this by using multiple Post Category drop downs and then using conditional logic to show/hide them.

For example, the first Post Category field has the main categories by selecting specific categories.

Then add a Post Category field for each main category that lists it's children and use conditional logic to show/hide the field based on the main category selected.

We do plan on looking at this and seeing if we can include hierarchy in the front end. But it's going to require core code changes and is not something that can currently be done via available hooks.

Hi there,

Loving GF.

I have the post category choice set as a dropdown.

This dropdown populates the options hierarchical and in alphabetical order - including parent/child relationships.

I am looking for a way to have the subcategories indented slightly so that my users can see the parent category and the subcategories within the list. As it stands, all categories are displayed without indentation.

Are there any hacks / tips for this?

Thank you.
