Sounds like your theme might potentially be using the [raw] shortcode here. We don't inject any extra markup to the forms, as you've noted they don't show in the preview.

You could try placing your Gravity Form like this: [raw]gf shortcode here[/raw]

This is a common issue, and thus why I'm just guessing here blindly since I don't have a link to your form.

Hi Chris, tcs

Thanks for the suggestion. That'll do nicely except for one problem. On the website the textarea field is rendering with html br and p tags. Using the gravity forms preview function they do not show. NOTE: I did not add any html elements to the Terms of Service "Default Value" field.

Do either of you know a way to resolve this?

As above - There is a plugin that both can store agreement text in the entry and allow you to include it in emails. Have a look for the gravity forms terms of service plugin and try it out. I had the same requirement and it's working great for me.

The HTML field is for presentation, not part of the entry. If you would like that as part of the entry, you will have to include it in the form some other way.

There is a 3rd party add-on called "Terms of Service" field, which adds a new field type which is then stored with the entry:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gravity-forms-terms-of-service-field/

The HTML field holds the text from the agreement a user is acknowledging to by signing a signature field below it. It would be helpful if this was included in the email.

I tried creating a merge tag like {Our Policy:52} but that didn't work.

thanks!
Jules
