Thanks for your help. I definitely agree, MailChimp doesn't seem to have much organization across their development team. But at least after a week of back and forth they finally gave some insight. :P

Yes, we will have to look into how to handle this. We can't simply change to using the API as we don't want to disrupt existing users who are using the plugin as is. So we will look into how to best handle this. It would have helped if MailChimp would standardize their API access to use one method, with the key being the best method. Unfortunately the way we implemented it at the time was dictated by the PHP API framework we used to develop the add-on.

Carl;

The MailChimp API Team gave me this documentation that suggests another way to build GravityForms' connection to MailChimp. Apparently the API Key can be used, rather than the login() function:

http://www.mailchimp.com/api/faq/#faq5

Does this look like something that can be integrated into a future release of the MailChimp Add-on?

There is one work around that may be useful:

Create an account using the MailChimp Site.

Then using the Google Apps account login, access the account keys (Account tab on the top left > Account Keys).

Invite yourself to have access using the email address tied to the new MailChimp account you created on the site. (it can be the same email address).

Once you have established access using the account keys, you can login to MailChimp using the MailChimp login and then access the Google Apps account via the account keys.

I finally got a _somewhat_ intelligent response from MailChimp, but their solution was to simply create two accounts and to link them using the Application Keys. I'm going to test it out and I will make another post in this thread if things work out.

The only way is via username/password using the Add-On. I don't know how their API works without using that. Sounds like an issue MailChimp needs to resolve as most things work with their API this way so i'm not sure why they would do this with Google. Seems like a poor technical decision on their part.

Has there been any update to this topic?

I contacted MailChimp and their support team basically told me I'm SOL because they don't provide usernames on Google Apps accounts. They acted like it was a technical restriction, which is totally untrue since Freshbooks is able to give out usernames on top of the Google Apps openID.

Any other way to get GravityForms connected to MailChimp?

I have contacted mailchimp about this because the no username and password issue also causes problems with their internal workings such as giving access to one mailchimp account to another. It is verified via a log, but without a u and p. you can't verify anything. Hopefully they will generate username and passwords for Google App users and my question on here will be null.

Crossing fingers!

If you go to google apps marketplace it basically just adds a button in your gmail to log into Mailchimp.

I'm not familiar with MailChimp's Google Apps integration and weren't aware it even existed. I will look into it, however with something like this there is no way I can guarantee we can make the Add-On compatible because Google Apps is it's own animal and at that point MailChimp is an add-on for Google Apps and doesn't function the way it is on it's own.
