David, this particular forum is a customized stand-alone bbpress installation with custom code written to handle the user permissions, WordPress integration, etc. This existed before the user registration plugin and most of our other product offerings so that's why those aren't in use here.

We'll probably be changing things up as we go along to better integrate every thing, but for now that's how it's being done.

Thanks for the fast response, Rob.

Are you saying you do use the user-registration of GF or do you use some other way to check users have paid for membership?

If not GF, then a) why not and b) what do you use?

Thanks, again.
David

Our forum is a standalone BBPress installation. With Gravity Forms you can use the user-registration add-on to collect payment and sign up users.

I'd like to build a membership site based on GF paypal and Members. I want the site to also have a forum and (like this one) and wondered if this forum is built using a WordPress plugin with the Members plugin?

I see there are topics on building membership sites within the forum, but as I've not purchased yet, I cannot see those posts.... which is kind of how I want it to be on my own site.

Thanks
David
