If you have that many valuable data records, I would make sure you have a good backup saved from before when this happened, and make another backup now, so you have two good snapshots.

You can check the database directly to see if the entries are still there. If they are, we just have to see why the data is not being displayed and not included in the exported CSV. You will need a tool like phpMyAdmin to view the MySQL database tables directly.

Yes i did try to make it inactive and then active in an effort to see if it would show again. Ill contact the template designers to see if they know of any conflicts. I guess ill have to do the same procedures again to see if it is replicated. For obvious reasons i would not want the data from 1296 beach volleyball teams go missing during the registration process..... disaster! Ill get back and let you know what happens.

One thing, from your initial topic. Did the data appear to be missing before you made the form inactive and active again? From your initial post, I thought you made it inactive and active again as a troubleshooting step: "I did make the form inactive and re-activated it, but the fields (persons last name) are still not showing". It sounded to me initially like you tried making it inactive then active again in an effort to get the data to show.

Moving which columns are displayed when editing the entry screen will not normally cause you to lose data. I've never seen that actually. if the information is missing from the entry, it sounds like you have a theme or plugin conflict causing this trouble. However, I've never seen that happen either. You can check for theme and plugin conflicts by using these instructions http://rkt.gs/testing

However, this is the first time I have heard of this. This is not Gravity Forms functionality doing this to your entries.

No i did not delete the fields i simply moved the fields from the visible to not shown box by dragging them, and did the same with the not shown data by dragging that into the visible fields box. I was giving a presentation at that time to show that you could decide which data can be shown! All that data has now gone. At no time did i delete any of any of the fields! None of the fields in the form have been deleted (i just checked the form) all fields are still present from the original build. The only info showing now is "team names" and payment date. All other info "first name, last name" etc has gone even though the form fields have not been deleted.

What do you mean here:

"I then went in and changed the fields within the entries screen."

Do you mean you deleted or edited fields, or you just changed which fields are being displayed on the entries screen?

Changing the display of the fields on the entry screen will not cause data to go missing. However, if you delete a field, you will delete all field entries which were associated with that field. Before that happens, the browser will put up a dialog explaining that you will lose all the field entries when you delete the field.

I tried to recreate the problem by:

Exporting the entries for a form

Shuffling the columns which are displayed on the entries page

Exporting the entries again

The exports were identical before and after shuffling the column display of the entries. They were in the same order and everything, completely independent of the display on the entries screen.

I recently added data into a form and exported the data within the selected fields to excel (everything worked fine). I then went in and changed the fields within the entries screen. After that i went back into the export option and checked the selected fields......... and now the data is missing......... I did make the form inactive and re-activated it, but the fields (persons last name) are still not showing in either the entries screen, or when i export the data into excel. Any thoughts where i may have gone wrong please. It seems to me that making a form inactive does something to the data if its not in the "entries" screen when you make it inactive!
