Let me re-phrase that. I see how to add the form to a post which I have done.

So, where does the uploaded file go? How do I display it to the site users?

Actually I see it now and have created a form.

How do I set where it goes and in what page the form is displayed? Is there a short code for the form?

This is helpful, but I don't see the file upload facility in form editing.

Do I need a key first?

Gravity Forms allows you to create posts on your WordPress site just like you described. My best guess is that your developer was making use of Gravity Forms' file upload functionality which could then be configured to display a link to the uploaded file in the newly created post. In regards to making the post/document only accessible to logged in users, this is possible but would require some custom code. Hope this is helpful. :)

I had a developer building a document upload and share service on my website, but he has disappeared without finishing the job and I have to try and emulate what he did.

He used the Gravity Forms plug-in for which I am about to buy a licence so as to create the form.

He set it up so that it would run from the front end of the website once users had logged in. They were then able to chose a title, some brief text and upload the document so that any other logged in user could view it.

Now before i start burning my brain trying to work out how he did it, can anybody offer me some advice as to how it was done or should it be easy for me to see once I get going?

The bit I think will be tricky is working out where the uploaded file goes and how it can be seen. Will it be a blog post or something?
