The best advice I can give is to upgrade WordPress. If that's not an option in your case, I don't have an alternative option for you, other than hacking around the errors until the site can be updated.

Thanks Chris. I did check the errors, but even with scouring the web haven't figured out what to do with these errors (The admin.php one is where GravityForms is specifically referenced, though I imagine they're all involved). I've reuploaded both the wp-admin and wp-includes from the same version of WP to no effect.

jquery-ui-1.7.3.custom.min.js:10 Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined
ui.sortable.js:13 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'mouse' of undefined
ui.tabs.js:13 Uncaught TypeError: Object function (a,b){return new c.fn.init(a,b)} has no method 'widget'
admin.php:3290 Uncaught TypeError: Object #<Object> has no method 'sortable'

Any advice you can provide would be appreciated.

It's likely a jQuery issue. Your best chance to find the issue is to use Firefox with a tool like Firebug to find the source of the JavaScript errors. Once you can see the errors, you have a chance at hacking around to make things work..

Many modern browsers have built in developer tools as well, but Firebug makes things very easy.

Thanks Carl. For some reason I didn't get the notification that you'd replied. Unfortunately, the upgrade is not an option at this point. Apparently the group responsible for the site is going to be doing that in about a month, but that doesn't work so well for me.

Here's what it looks like when I add a form:
http://cl.ly/3P2n0S0F0x282l1d2D33

And here's what it looks like after clicking form settings:
http://cl.ly/0T081u0v113I103X0A3l

I realize that helping fix bugs with out of date WordPress installations is a little out of scope, but can you confirm that this is likely to be a jQuery UI issue and that we should at least start there.

Many thanks.

It most likely has to do with the out of date WordPress install or a plugin/theme conflict.

I would suggest updating to the latest version of WordPress and see if that resolves the issue. Running old versions of WordPress is not recommended.

We don't make old versions of Gravity Forms available because just like with WordPress, it's never recommended that you run an older version.

Thanks Carl.

I'm actually not concerned with the automatic update (though I do love the new features), I'm just trying to get GF to work in this site's admin area.

At the moment the first form box (Form Title, Redirect To, etc...) doesn't appear and clicking edit on any added form field doesn't do anything. I'm guessing it has something to do with the out of date WordPress install, but I don't know that for certain, and I can't update it to find out unfortunately.

I thought maybe there was an old version of Gravity Forms that would have worked on 3.0.4 that I could download and install (and not update until they actually updated the site). If this isn't the case, do you have any thoughts?

Cheers.

If you are referring to automatic update, earlier versions of Gravity Forms automatic update are not compatible with changes introduces in WordPress 3.0+ to the automatic update system.

We released an update before the release of 3.0 that fixed this but if the user didn't update at that time and then updated WordPress... they wouldn't be able to use automatic update.

You should be able to just download and install the latest version from the support site.

Is it possible to find an older version of Gravity Forms somewhere. I'm helping a friend with a site and they've got some weirdness going in there that means they can't upgrade beyond WordPress 3.0.4. Which I'm guessing is why the current gravity forms won't work (there was a jQuery update in there somewhere wasn't there?)

Are the older versions of Gravity Forms on the site somewhere along with something indicating which version they work with?
