Hi, I'm interested in creating a website that has user logins for paying members to access content. There will be pages as well as surveys and forms accessible to everyone, as well as a form/survey for creation of a login and payment accepted for access to the site when signing up.

Paid members will have access to additional content and surveys.

My questions:
1) Does this require installing a membership plug-in? If so, is only the "Member" plugin suggested on this site supported or are there other membership plug-ins that work? (i.e s2Member or WishList or MagicMembers that have a little more functionality for displaying content to different users)
2) If only the "Member" plugin, does it extend the existing user role system in Wordpress or does it have it's own.
3) Suppose that we have a list of vendors as part of the paid access, is there a way to set up recommended vendors specific to each user? (owner of site would select manually).
