Sometimes the column customizer can be touchy, especially when you have A LOT of fields. we plan on redesigning it in the future. The trick now if you have a lot of fields is in the right column drag and drop the field in the same column to the very top of the right column, then select it again and drag it to the left. It doesn't work real well right now with a lot of fields and it's been on the back burner but it is due for a redesign.

You were right Carl, I deleted the old plugin and added the new one and it is working fine. I do have one more question. When I go to the Entries for the Forms and try to edit the Columns that are shown, I try to drag and drop what I want to show, it acts like it is copying, but nothing happens. I was able to remove some Columns I didn't want to see anymore, but I can't add any. Any suggestions?

Your forms should be fine, deleting the plugin files themselves won't delete your forms.

Thank you Carl. I will try what you suggest. Should I backup my forms and move my existing Gravity Forms files as isuk suggests above?

You already have 1.3.1.1 installed so you can't manually install 1.5.1 using the built in plugin uploader because the gravityforms folder already exists. You have to delete the 1.3.11 version and then upload 1.5.1. When upgrading via automatic upgrade WordPress handles this for you, but when going to Plugins and Add New and uploading a zip file, it does not automatically do this.

- Go to Plugins
- Deactivate Gravity Forms
- Delete Gravity Forms
- Go to Add New Plugins
- Select Upload
- Upload the new zip file
- Activate

Automatic update doesn't work for you because 1.3.11 is not compatible with changes WordPress made in v3.0. We released an update before WordPress v3.0 was released, but you must not have updated then and then updated to WordPress v3.0+ which is why you have to manually update GF now.

I would try to export your forms (one by one) (Forms -> Import/Export) & additionally backup my tables via phpMyAdmin (they begin with gf_). After that move your existant gravityforms directory out of the plugins dir on your ftpserver and put the v1.5 in. Check if your forms are still working with v1.5. If anything went wrong you can always restore your old config (via phpMyAdmin) and the old 1.3.1.1 install.

I purchased Gravity Forms newest version and downloaded it to my desktop then tried to install it per your instructions. I have version 1.3.11 installed and want to upgrade, but I get this error:

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: gravityforms_1.5.1.5.zip
Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Destination folder already exists. /home/XXXX/XXXX.org/wp-content/plugins/gravityforms/
Plugin install failed.

I replaced the actual name of the directory & website with XXXX. I have version 1.3.11 and it says a New version 1.5.1 is available, but I don't know how to get the automatic update and the install is not working. I entered my License Key that was emailed, but it is still not working. Also, I have several forms that are working (with version 1.3.11) and I don't want the new version to mess them up. I am new to WordPress and Gravity Forms. Thank you in advance for your help.
