I am also interested in this functionality. I have a form where users can choose multile post categories.

My work around:
1 Checkbox field for 6 categories which the user sees.
At the bottom of the form are 6 hidden Post Category fields. Using conditional logic, they appear only if the Checkbox above was chosen.

We will add this idea to our feature list and look into adding it in a future release. Thanks!

I too would like to see the Post Category as a different field type, more specifically a list of check boxes of the allowed categories. I am using a form so that church members can submit prayer requests on any of three lists (three different categories). Now they can only choose from one of the three lists since this is only available as a drop down list.

I was trying to follow your example of including multiple post category fields in a single form. It would definitely be confusing to the user.

The Post Category dopdown box is only going to trigger validation if the user didn't make a selection and you set the field as required. Since they didn't make a selection, it would trigger a required field validation error. If it isn't required, don't set it required.

You can have multiple categories by adding multiple Post Category fields to your form. this is handy when you want to hand select which categories they select (ex. Select Destination, Select Activity). We will look at enhancing this in the future by adding different field type options (checkboxes for instance), but for now it is only drop down selections. But you can add multiple Post Category fields to a form. All selections will be applied.

I'm also a bit confused about this. Should the drop down post category option not default to "select one"? If you user does not select entry then would trigger validation. The way it is currently set up if the user inadvertantly skips this question then they may end up with a category selection that was not intended.

Also wondering how to go about offering multiple category option for the post. Seems checkboxes would be a simple (but tedious to set up) way to accomplish this but it does not appear to be available under the post option selections.

We love Gravity Forms and are finding it is saving us a lot of time...but as we are building our directory site we need to give users the ability to sign up for a listing that will post in designated categories. So we are having issues with the select of multiple categories and also logo upload (but understand logo issues is seperate).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Post Fields share some common settings because you can have one or any of them on your form so those settings have to be set regardless of what combination of Post Fields you are using.

If you aren't using the Post Category field you need to set a category for the post that is created, hence the default category setting that appears in the Post fields.

The Post Category field overrides the default Category setting because you have told it to allow the user to select the Category.

I've just noticed all the 'post fields' properties tabs have the post category defaulting to the first category in my list (in my case Africa).

Yet, I also have the ability to set up my form so the user can assign a category by using the post field 'category'.

Why do all the post fields have the ability to set a category?
