We were able to replicate this issue and corrected this in the current internal 1.6 build. It will be included in the final 1.6 release next week. Please note it will only correct new form submissions. It will not correct the location of existing files.

I have run into this in the past, but I never thought too much about it, since it didn't matter in my situation. The images were uploaded into the directory based on the post_date of the page where the form was embedded.

Thanks for checking on that and I will bring this to Carl's attention again to see if there is something to be done.

Now we're on to something. The publish date of that PAGE is 03. That's probably why it's putting it into the 03 folder. However, since that page is meant to create posts, I would think gravity forms would fix this and copy the image into correct directory.

Here is an example URL for one of the posts submitted through GF:
http://www.iphoneappreview.com/homescreen-hero-wallpapers-icon-shelves-lock-screen-designer/

You can see the 2 screenshots are in the 2011/03 directory.

@webcom, what is the date this page was published?
http://www.iphoneappreview.com/promote-your-app/

And, to be clear, this form creates Posts? Can you post a link to one of the Posts please? I'd like to find out what's going on as well.

Certainly. Here is the link to the form: http://www.iphoneappreview.com/promote-your-app/

Yes, the image actually exists in both folders.

I am not really using the image location for anything. I just noticed that the new images were in the wrong monthly directory when inserting them into posts.

This could, at the very least, be a nuisance. Having all the images in the same directory ruins the benefit of breaking it down by month. Or this could be an issue. If gravity is making the image names unique based on it's directory and then trying to place them into a different directory (with potentially different name conflicts), this could cause images to be overwritten in the post gallery.

Either way, nuisance or real issue, I would like to know how to fix it.

Thanks for your help on this.

webcom, can you post a link to your form? And does the image actually exist in two locations: once in the media gallery in the wrong month, and once in the gravity_forms folder by form number?

Also, I am curious how you're using the image location. Thanks.

An update: after the month changed, the location of the images did not update. They are still going to uploads/2011/03.

When I upload an image from within the wordpress image gallery they go into the correct place.

When I upload an image using another form plugin they go into the correct place.

They only seem to be in the wrong place when an image is uploaded via gravity.

Those are two different areas, if you notice the image linked from the entry is in uploads/gravity_forms which is the Gravity Forms stored image. The post images stored in your Media Library are processed and stored by WordPress, not Gravity Forms. So WordPress is placing them in the wrong location. We can take a look and see if we can reproduce this locally.

I reset the settings and the image is in the gallery is still going to /wp-content/uploads/2011/03/. The image, when viewed from the gravity entry, is stored correctly in /wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/1/2011/09/.

Any other ideas?

Try re-setting your Media settings for how images are stored on the Media Settings page of WordPress. Make sure you don't have a path populated in the "Store uploads in this folder" field and then Uncheck the option to store monthly and save the settings. Then check the option to store monthly and save the settings again. Then test the form that uploads images and see if they are stored correctly.
