Carl, agreed and thank you for the update. I'm hoping Akismet can identify the common language used by SEO human spammers and send them back to the waste bin where they belong. Cheers.

Gravity Forms v1.6 will be released later todayor tomorrow. It features Akismet integration which automatically works if you have the Akismet plugin activated and configured.

Just keep in mind that some spam is not bot generated and is in fact real people filling out the form. If it's a real person, the likelihood of it not getting flagged as spam does go up. Even with Akismet.

Carl, I'm hoping your integration with Akismet comes out soon. I'm seen big numbers of SEO spam posts from India on all my forms, even when using the honeypot and re-captcha options.

Currently the only options for preventing spam are:

- reCAPTCHA using the Captcha field.
- Really Simple Captcha Plugin, which adds additional options to the Captcha field, including an alternative captcha and a math challenge option.
- Anti-Spam Honeypot option in the Form Settings when editing a form which adds a hidden field that entices spam bots to fill it in, if it's filled in the entry isn't stored.

We are planning on introducing additional Spam options, including Akismet integration and a Spam box later this summer.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for the post.

We have found that using a service like ReCaptcha reduces our form conversion rate so this is not a preffered method for us. On our old ASP sites we used to set it based on the time it took to complete the form as a bot based spammer would fill the form in instantaneously.

Do you have any other suggestions on how we could fight spam without making the visitor fill out another field in the form.

Kind regards
Mark

- Turn on the anti-spam honeypot located in the Advanced Form settings. Edit your form, go to Form Settings (hover over the title/description area and choose Edit), select the Advanced tab and check the Anti-Spam Honeypot checkbox.

- Use reCAPTCHA or the Really Simple Captcha plugin which adds additional captcha options to the Captcha field in Gravity Forms.

Those are the two primary methods to combat spam. They both only combat automated spam. There is no way to combat manual spam, because it is actual people that submit the forms and enter the data.

A lot of people don't realize that spammers have resorted to hiring people to submit form spam. This is difficult to combat because actual people fill out the forms and can fill in captcha fields, etc.

We do plan on implementing Akismet support as an Add-On.

Hello,
What else can I be doing to stop incoming spam on the three forms in this site, http://valleyviewwinery.com/our-wines/order-holiday-wine-gifts/

This site contains three Gravity Forms, there is no blog on this site.

Thanks!
