Hi Ben,

This has been fixed and will be available in the next release. In the meantime, just add space and leave the field and it will save the value.

You're right. I was able to replicate this on 1.7beta1. The merge tags for dates are not saved as default values. I did confirm this works fine in 1.6.12. I'll let the development team know about the issue. Thank you for the report.

oops. not solved.

When I set the merge tag for default value as {date_dmy} and click save, nothing happens. i check after saving and nothing is listed in the default box. its blank again. i am using the new convenient dropdown for the merge tags.

I tried this with all three: No Icon, Calendar Icon, and Custom Icon

versions below.

PHP Version - 5.2.17
MySQL Version - 5.1.67
WordPress Version - 3.5.1
Gravity Forms Version - 1.7.beta1

You can use one of these merge tags as the default value for your hidden field:

{date_mdy}
{date_dmy}

Instead of opening a new thread, I will add to this one.

I want to create a date field that I will hide so only admin can see it.

Next, I will create an autoresponder in mailchimp that schedules an email one week after today's date.

The question remains, how do I create a date field that automatically populates with the date of submission. In other words, how do I get it to populate with today's date?

Thanks, Ben
