If anyone else is experiencing this, it was solved by simply saving the file as a .doc or .docx file rather than opening it directly from the email.

That's what I thought... now back to my client to figure out what settings she needs to change on her end! Thanks for your help.

Gravity Forms does not convert files to ZIP or XML, it doesn't do anything with the files. It doesn't attach the files to the emails as attachments, all it can do is link to that file on your server.

If any type of conversion or changing of the file is occurring it is happening on the users end, possibly there email client is doing it, really hard to tell. Gravity Forms itself doesn't manipulate the file in anyway and as it's not a file attachment I don't see why an email client would manipulate and change the link.

Re: http://www.careerprocanada.org/become-an-expert-contributor/

This form sends an email notification to myself and another user. Someone attached a .docx file, and I had no trouble opening it in Word. The other person, who has the same version of Word and Outlook that I do, received it as a zip file with xml files in it. Any suggestions how to fix this?
