Just for anyone that doesn't read your edit.

You can go to the downloads page on the right side, you'll see we have included the language files on the same page as the main Gravity Forms download. Good luck!

Hey guys. Can you send me the language files? Are they not downloadable somewhere on this site? I have a great impression of gravity forms. Not making the language files available in the package or for download pulls down my posivite impression of your product.

Edit: Hmm.. jumping to conclusions here. I found the language files. Thanks! :-) Now how to activate them...

Kind regards,
Simon

Thanks for the feedback e-rik.
The reason we decided to leave the PO files out of the plugin was because they are very large files and we wanted to keep the size of the zip as small as possible. We do give them away for everybody that asks for them and we are planning on placing them for download somewhere on the support site.

Hi David,

Thanks for the file, I received your e-mail.

As for the 'best translations possible': in my experience that may differ from case to case. There are cases where you want a more informal tone and cases where you want it more formal. In the Netherlands for example we have two forms for the English "you", a casual "jij" and a more formal, polite "u" (in German: Du and Sie). This is the case in many languages. Then you also have customers who have special wishes for certain translations. So in my opinion there can never be "One Perfect Translation That Covers Them All". That's why I always like to have the .po files of the plugins I use.

I don't follow your argument that people would not push translations back to you if they have the .po files. In fact, I think the opposite is true. I for example would correct mistakes or improve translations if I had the .po file. I would not make a whole new translation of all 1500 strings if I had to start from scratch, unless no translation existed for my language at all. I think people will be more likely to send in their translations if you provide them with the existing .po files.

Best regards,
e-rik

At the end of the day, we do make them available to anyone that asks for them or needs them.

If I had to guess why they aren't included though, I think part of it would be that we would love people to push translations back to us, and no one would do that if they had things handy all the time. ;) So if you notice anything that needs changing, you could also let us know, and then everyone could have the best translations possible.

Yes please send me the .po files. You've got my e-mail.

What do you guys think of my suggestion to include the .po files in the package? Or else make them downloadable somewhere.

regards,
